The most important kind of cultural competency by the medical students is the ability to socialize with the patients and the other physicians. The medical students should basically internalize the rules regarding feeling and emotion (Hafferty, 1988). This competency is acquired through sharing their experiences and training. It is also gained through experience in the practical sessions.
The most important kind of cultural competency that must be acquired by soldiers is the ability to fight and kill another person. They should forget their normal civilian role of being a citizen and be different as their main job is to kill or die. It is hard for normal civilians to do these acts so the soldiers gain this competency through training (Dyer, 2007). In militarized societies like Sparta, Eritrea and others the soldiers gain this competency as early as puberty when the boys are taught the military values and skills. The soldiers undergo sufficient training on a daily basis in order to be competent at their work. The training in some cases involves psychological manipulation and intense indoctrination period with the main purpose of changing their values and loyalties in order to make them better soldiers.
A prison is a place that is characterized by people who have committed extreme criminal cases. Various criminals with different penal charges are restrained in this place. Among them are people who have been accused of rape amidst other things (Zimmer, 1987).
