Demography, Wealth, Literacy Levels, Health, and Military Strength Patterns Size of the military (personnel) LGBT and same sex marriageSame-sex marriage and tolerance of the LGBT community was used to evaluate the level of freedom of a country and was used to represents ‘rights and respect”. The size of a country’s military was used to represent “war and peace” part of the atlas. The reason for selecting the military to represent “war and peace” was that the military is akin with war.

“Wealth and power” of a country was represented by the country’s GDP (PPP). The size of a country’s GDP represents its level of productivity, ability to do trade and wealth. Obesity was used to determine the “health of the people” part of the atlas. Today obesity is a serious health problem in most countries. “Who we are” was represented by literacy level. A person’s literacy level and education often determine what they eventually do with their life.

“Health of the planet” part of the atlas was represented by the rural population. Countries with huge urban population often are more polluted.
