Extract of sample "The Economic Problems Besetting Greece"

Yet I am expected to do my part to bail the country out of debt just the same. The austerity measures that have been dictated by the European Union in order to help save the Greek economy have not really done much in terms of helping Greece to get bailed out of debt. I have to face the fact that my country spent money it never had and therefore, sunk itself into this financial quagmire. It was fun while it lasted, but now, every Greek person is being made to pay for the actuarial mistakes of the Greek economic / government think tanks.

If Greece should fail to meet the austerity measures and take further action to curb the rising national debt, I am afraid to even think about what might happen to Greece. The option of leaving the Euro Zone and returning to the Greek Drachma may seem like a sound idea and a great way to start over, but I believe that it will only cause further individual financial harm to the Greeks instead of helping to diffuse an already sensitive financial situation in the country. I don't see how such a move would ease the national debt or personal financial burden of the Greeks.
