Should Cloning and its associated practices be allowed? As far as genetics is concerned, cloning the associated stem cell researches have not only been the widely celebrated developments, but also those that are filled with controversy. Cloning can be considered as a process whereby genetically identical organisms are produced asexually out of existing. Biotechnologically, cloning is the process of growing new copies of cells, DNA or organisms. Whereas cloning is a landmark development, it has been treated by resistance. Cloning also spans stem cell debates, because it entails stem cell extraction and nurturing. The common question has been whether the cloning practice should be accepted. In this essay, I argue that there is no point to resist the cloning practices, including its associated practices such stem cell extractions, because there are various associated benefits. The benefits associated with the cloning practice are well documented by (Bardocz 2). To begin with, through cloning one can develop crops with desirable quality, which can address food. Cloning has also been described a process of capability of riving endangered and extinct organism. One of the greatest aspirations has been to revive the extinct woolly mammoth. However scientists are yet to succeed in extracting DNA component from the death mammoth. Even so, scientists are still trying and are optimistic about the process. This DNA will be extracted and then inserted into the embryo of black Africa elephant. Researchers are hopeful that this will came true within ten years. Trials have established that genetically modified food have the potential of doing better than the ordinary crops. In addition, they have also been found to possess the trait of not requiring pesticides to thrive. This has the following implications. Reduced dependency on pesticides means farmers will reduce the costs of farming because they would not need to buy the pesticides. In another way, reduced use of pesticides would mean that the environment would be conserved. This is in consideration to the fact that pesticides, among other groups of aerosols, are serious pollutants of the environment. In this regard, genetic modification is in line with sustainable development for real environment In addition, genetically modified crops can grow in adverse environmental condition such as dry season. Genetic modification creates the allowance to come up with crops that are more nutrition than ordinary crops. Based on these reasons scientist, as where as those that support cloning, have been assertive that genetic research is advantageous in the sense that it would address food security and achieve sustainable development (Illmensee 427). The group that supports therapeutic cloning, which entails human cloning, has maintained that cloning will provide cells that are identical to be used in the regenerative medicine. Additionally, cloning can be applied to create identical tissues and organs that can replace the worn out ones, without requiring donors. There is much hope that organs, regenerative cells and tissues that have been cloned would work in an effective manner, and would not even require immunosuppressive drugs. Cloning procedures are the ultimate pathways of intervention for the treating serious health complications such as diabetes, cancer and even heart complications. Moreover, cloning will revolutionize the manner in which serious burns would be treated. It would also revolutionize ways in which cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries will be conducted. For instance, as far as reconstructive surgery is concerned, cloning will involve creating cloned children that will then be bone marrows donors to those with leukemia complications (McFarland 45). As far as reproduction is concerned, cloning processes will help impotent and barren couples to have their children. Scientists have hopes that with cloning, there is the possibility of having infertile parents have children through DNA interactions. Even so, perhaps the most interesting about cloning has been the hopes by the scientists to reverse the processes of aging by using cloning practice. Scientists in cloning have exhibited optimism that reversal of the process of aging process can involve various approaches, all of which are only open to theories. In one way, the SENS technique has been widely mentioned. This involves culturing the replacement tissues that have been derived from the parent embryos. Moreover, as far as medicine is concerned, the story of Henrietta Lacks is widely inferred. The Immortality of Henrietta Lacks is a true story by Skloot about a peasant farmer whose cells were taken without her consent in the in 1951. The cells would later be utilized as a specimen in medicine for the development of the polio vaccine, cloning and even gene mapping, as well as in vitro fertilization. According to Peter (23), those who resist cloning have inferred from various points to prove its disadvantages. First, the questions of if cloned organisms should be accepted has been the treated with various bioethical questions. The practice of cloning has been resisted by Catholic community, among other religious denominations. These groups have been insistent that cloning practice is a contravention of the natural law. As far as the processes of animal reproduction are concerned, the beginning of animal life is marked by conception. Another concern that has surrounded the cloning debate is the question of Frankenstein factor, which extends the ethical debate of cloning. The Frankenstein factor question is that which shall prompt the redefinitions of people, life, creatures and creators. Frankenstein factors bring out the cloning process as a practice that deliberately makes man the creator, when he is only supposed to be the creature. At least, this has been the stand by various religious groups. Moreover, according to Kass (23), other forces of opposition against the cloning process have been triggered by the concerns about the right of protecting individual’s human identity, including genetic identity. The groups have been insistent that cloning should not be accepted. Cloned products should also not be accepted or registered. Universal Declaration of Human Rights, article 11, outlines that a reproductive approaches of cloning of human beings amounts to the contravention of the human dignity. A similar point is extended to animal rights, and this has been advanced by the animal rights activists. They insist that all animals have certain moral right, like human beings; thus need to accorded ethical considerations. Lastly, current cloning oppositions stem from the concerns that cloned animals are easily affected by biological defects. Scientific researchers have, tried by all means, but not yet come trust worth. Several numbers of cloned organisms have died in the processes. Individuals against cloning have been based that the process may cause abnormalism. However, can be dismissed on the account that there are possibilities in which these could be effectively resolved. Indeed, with much more scientific research practice, there are high chances that these issues would be effectively addressed. When examining the validity of these points, it is essential to evaluate the questions of whether the ethical subject is more crucial than other points that favor the practice of cloning. In my view, there can be no valid reason as allowing cloning practice and even labeling the cloned products as potential benefits that accompany the cloning practice. In particular, the cloning practice and its practice should be welcome on the basis that they have the potential of enabling the society realize the goals of sustainable growth. Evidently, cloning can be considered as having the capability of addressing societal problems. Cloning can be used in one way in which farming could be changed to become productive.
