Short Answers Question The fundamental economic problem facing developing countries is the debt crisis. For almost every developing country, financial upheaval of the 1980s has hit off on their economic development (Ambrosio, 2009). This has led to increase in poverty levels as these countries striving to grow under this gigantic debt burdenLack of democracy is the primary political problem facing developing countries. Many of these countries have experienced leadership coups (Ambrosio, 2009).

The coup leaders plunder the wealth of these developing countries through enforcing oppressive rules to avoid opposition from democrats. The central social problem facing these countries is inadequate housing and sanitation. Many of its people live in slums, which are characterized by substandard housing and sanitation (Ambrosio, 2009). Question 2Neoliberal economic reforms refer to significant economic policies adopted by many countries to boost trade and promote the role of private sectors in the economy (Ambrosio, 2009).

Some of these policies are economic liberalization, privatization of government parastatals and encouraging open markets amongst trading blocksQuestion 3Some of the key environmental issues facing third world countries include deforestation, soil erosion, and water pollution through wastages from farms and factories and desertification caused by rapid cut down of trees by illegal charcoal burners (Lahneman, 2004). Question 4Climate change is one of the key causes of water problem facing the world.

The change has caused severe reduction in river run off and recharge. Green revolution has also caused depletion of ground water, degradation of water and shrinking of large lakes and inland sea.Question 5Indian leaders have initiated a way to ensure corruption practices are contained through approving the implementation of various strong legal measures (Lahneman, 2004).The enactment of RTI has provided a mechanism by which Indian citizens can keep their government official accountable.Question 6Though president Obama statements after Honduran coup criticized the coup leaders and were against the coup, his government went ahead and supported the coup regime in Honduran to succeed (Lahneman,2004).

This implies that his administration still fund repression and denial of human rights hence call for opposition.Question 7The secret of people power’s success is clear. A tyrannical government can kill two or even a thousand people, but this cannot kill the urge of change started by more than a hundred thousand plus people (Ambrosio, 2009). So at a given point though it has machinery, the opposed government will succumb to the will of the majority.Question 8In the third world politics, military intervention could result from what can be perceived as political leaders’ failure to safeguard the national strategic and security interest its citizen.

This will call for military intervention under the basis of sustaining humanitarian purposes (Ambrosio, 2009).Question 9The primary benefit of military rule is that it helps to restore order and structure in a country that had an incompetent leader. The core weakness of a military regime is that people in charge misuse their powers thus leading to implementation of more corrupt policies (Ambrosio, 2009). Like in Somalia which is in the coast of Africa, the military regime though helped the country to restore itself after the assassination of Mohammed who was the president, has allowed a lot of illegal activities to be carried across it border.

The regime has been protecting pirates along the coastal shores in their illegal deals of ship high jacking.Question 10Third world leaders should abandon their selfish personal policies. They should appoint people with clean records of work in key government positions. This will stimulate change in structure and policy formulation, thus leading to rebirth of more focused state in these developing countries.ReferencesAmbrosio, T. (2009).
