Fire incidences in crowded areas have always had severe impacts as compared to areas that are less crowded. Usually, low income earning families usually live in masses that include the extended family and friends owing to the lack of affordable housing. This increases the number of victims in cases of fire (Jennings, 1996). In addition, Jennings (1996) argues that when many people are in a household, it makes it difficult to rescue everyone especially for old people and children who cannot run from the fire.

Crowded homes are a suggestion that the members are poor, thus their houses possibly lack smoke detectors. In case a fire occurs the occupants will have limited time to escape and thus makes them unable to reach neighboring households and alert or rescue them. It is imperative that safety measures be taken to address the fire issue in crowded areas so as to save lives in case of fire incidences.
