When the President of Nigeria and his wife received and accepted gifts in 1989 for the naming ceremony of their fourth child, the sources of those gifts were in question. “The rush by transnational corporations, traditional rulers, and the wealthy in the country to present gifts to the President and his wife under the guise of presenting gifts to the newborn baby, was merely an excuse to strengthen ties and ensure that they were noticed against the future” (Ojo 167).
Along the path, some get separated from their spouses, and many end up being divorced each citing reasons that to them seem viable. Divorce is not new in the society, with reported cases exacerbating in the recent years, a scenario which continues to rise in number over the years (Clarke-Stewart & Brentano 62).
However, major one, is lack of compassion on the behalf of those who can help the poor. This is quite a surprise to know, that this problem is growing on a large scale in America as well, which claims to the most powerful democracy in the world. Economists argue that, this condition is specifically created, by the inequity in the food distribution system of the country (Nestle & Guttmacher).
Ending hunger in the elderly population is not a matter of finding new solutions; it is a matter of identifying then fully funding existing ones on a large scale. Hunger is a global phenomenon and the factors contributing towards the expansion of this situation are countless, but one of the major factors is the lack of compassion on behalf of those who can help the poor.
There are many definitions of multi-cultural education. The one most used and most relevant, I believe to this topic and today's educational society is: "An education free of inherited biases, with freedom to explore other perspectives and cultures, inspired by the goal of making children sensitive to the purity of the ways of life, different modes of analyzing experiences and ideas, and ways of looking at history found throughout the world." (Aldridge, J., Calhoun, C., & Aman, R., 2000).
