The feminist theory also puts across the need for women being economically dependent as a means of reducing oppression. Through this, the theory assimilates topics of rank and gender that create the boundary between men and women. In this line, therefore, the presence of male supremacy and domination in society is the major reason behind gender inequalities.

However, the feminist theory does not account for the inequalities among women. Hanen (2008) argues that women in the world are not the same and all the assumptions of the feminist theory cannot be applied to the liberalization of women in the contemporary world.

The glass ceiling is an issue that portrays the notions of many women about their being female in their workplaces. The phrase glass ceiling is applied in the workplace to refer to the impossibility of women accessing higher ranks in their workplaces. Even though men dominate the higher ranks in the workplace, women should try as much as possible to escalate the ranks of power and position. Mezey (2002) indicates that the glass ceiling allows men to escalate on the ladders of all sectors of life in an invisible manner that renders many women subject to men. Women are put in vulnerable situations in case they manage to find their way up the ladder of success in business.
