The desegregation on and higher education transformation has not been a smooth activity. In some cases, it involved very senior administration such as the judicially. For example, in the transformation of higher education in the United States of America, the Morrill act that was passed in 1962 played a significant part. By that time, so many slaves were set free. At the time, the differences between various races in the United States of America were expressed between various persons openly. In getting a clear understanding of the desegregation, a division of the entire process into various stages is effective.
The passage of the Morrill act was the starting point of desegregation. This was mainly focused on institutions. The act pushed for more improvement empowering the African Americans who were not given equal attention as the Native Americans. According to the amendments made “No state shall make or enforce any law, which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without the due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the law.” ( Figiel and Woodley 2) Despite the constitution seeking for a neutral service to all persons, the set rules at the time propagated more division between the citizens.
The second phase considers individuals. At this time, the blacks had improved their struggle and this was evidenced in the many cases they took to the courts. This was during 1930-1950. As sociology is the study of the society, it is concerned with humans and how they perform within a society with others and their social activities (Comte & Auguste, 2005) Human behavior is complex, and therefore, sociology includes various studies of diverse subjects such as economic, political and religious.
