Society today faces the biggest divide that is the generational divide. Boomers encounter different situations each day involving generation Y. Boomer's influence came with the advent of the TV, rock and roll, the cold war, Vietnam war,  unlike Generation x which saw in personal computers, Aids, Single-parent families, multiculturalism, and downsizing of companies. On the other hand, generation Y has lived through the internet, cable television globalisation, as the saying confirms people do resemble their times (Gelston, 2008).

It is true that boomers generation most of their decisions depend on data and the fact the younger generation's decisions may result from peer influence. Boomers are a more idealistic generation, unlike the younger generation who may base TV and movies as their influence. Boomers believed in modernism they grew up believing technology is good, medicine was the answer to their problems, and a united people meant a better future (Gelston, 2008). This ideology cannot relate to the present especially with Generation Y.

The existence of the boomers, generation X and generation Y in a working condition happen to create tension among this group. Baby boomers considered being self-absorbed workaholics by generation X generation Y, generation X see generation Y as arrogant and entitled, whereas generation Y see generation X as a bunch of whiners.
