Key Steps or Tasks - The key tasks to perform to accomplish the goal of the project is:To meet the municipal authorities in each city and town of Uttar Pradesh to conduct training of project officers on slum profiling techniques designing the questionnaire to collect data pertaining to basic facilities existing in the slumCollecting data and analyzing the data based on various factors which may enable the government to provide houses to poor progress to date - Meeting with the authorities and discussed the complications of training and mobilizing project officers to attend the training - August 2010Providing training to Project Officers in different cities in the month of August and September 2010Difficulties/Problems Encountered: There were few difficulties throughout the project:Designing the questionnaire dealing with the residents while taking survey Inability to meet all the factors of poverty in different locations The problems were addressed by taking into confidence the people residing at slums, unions and informing them about the subsequent benefits of the survey.

The questionnaire was also designed with the assistance of few union members so as to avoid data variations in different Successes - RCUES has achieved considerable success in slum profiling, collecting data on various factors of urban poverty and existing basic amenities. Financial Status - The government of Uttar Pradesh has allocated a budget of Rs. 5.98 crores to RCUES out of which Rs. 1.56 crores has been spent on training and survey profiling. Recommended Actions To undertake the survey profiling and complete it quickly as possible.

To recruit an agency to do data entry for the collected survey results and perform analysis summary Conclusion - The vision of Govt. of India is to make every city and town slum-free and that every Indian should have access to minimum basic amenities and live in hygienic conditions. RCUES is working towards the vision by providing training and undertaking surveys and providing policy inputs to the government. The present project is in the completion stage and will take at least two months to be finally ready so that government can take action to achieve a slum-free city.
