Thus, social responsibility is now in question. The cliche statement, "no man is an island", greatly describes the need for man for others. Man is significantly affected by others' thoughts, feelings, and behaviors whether or not others are present. It simply indicates that man is prone to social influence and can be manipulated by social situations. Therefore, man cannot separate himself from others since every thought, feeling, and action elicited by others has a large impact on his very existence.

The community is dealing with different predicaments, from poverty, political issues, diminishing values, etc. The government acts as its chief protector against these problems. Poverty, which is said to be mostly the root cause of other problems, is dealt with by the government by aiding the poor children in public schools with free breakfast. A sound mind cannot function well without a sound body. The act is a way of reaching out to these people who are in immense need of support. The act is also a means of encouraging others to develop civic consciousness.

Nevertheless, this act is in the query because there are those who believe that it causes a fallback in the community. It provides a sense of too much dependence and eradicates the responsibility from the shoulders of the children's families. But then, another thing being questioned here is the idea of connectedness and interdependence. Connectedness is the sense of feeling in touch. And, interdependence refers to the sense of being mutually responsible with others and sharing the same set of principles.

Both connectedness and interdependence are fundamental in the promotion of social relationships. Thus, in the absence of one or both of these, a successful social relationship is impossible to attain. The consideration of helping those who are less fortunate is a noble idea. But then, the fallback others believe that its causes could also be dealt with at the same time. It is possible to do good for other people and at the same time help them realize and fulfill their potentials. There are several areas to be scrutinized in the proposed eradication of the practice of the state.

It is important to identify the purpose of the proposed action. It is also vital to consider the different people or groups that will be affected by it. It is important to discern the pros and cons it can produce. The necessity to eliminate it and or modify it should as well be regarded. Instead of abolishing an act which is promoting consciousness and unity, it is better to extend the service to their families, who are responsible for molding their children into future responsible members of the community.

It is better to teach a man how to fish than give him fish. In this way, there is an assurance that man will learn how to be responsible for himself. It is better to educate a man on how to optimize his resources. Rather than solely giving temporary relief to society's dilemmas, a permanent long-term solution is much healthier.
