Download file to see previous pages... Of immense importance are social groups that relate themselves to social and economic gradation. These processes come across hindrances and challenges that need to be thoroughly analyzed to arrive at a consensus.
The stand that has to be taken should be decisive enough to reach a solution that would not only shift its focus to an aspect but also concentrate on the in-depth understanding of the requirement. As part of extensive research and dialogues done to serve this purpose, contrasting ways of representing certain diversities such as medical versus rights can be approached. At the same time one can reflect on charity versus tragedy, social disadvantages or social models of disabilities as conceptual frame works, which can be critically evaluated.
To continue to discuss on social disadvantages and social models of disabilities certain web materials, school policies, leaflets from voluntary organizations, newspaper articles and reports can be successfully outlined.
Our commitment for a better future should initiate activities from the grass-roots levels. Of particular relevance is the development of progress of society that is at a social disadvantage or socially disabled.
"Barnados" (Believe in children. 2007) is an organization which had its genesis in 1867. It is no longer an orphanage, but commits itself to its founder's vision. It provides counselling, fostering and adoption, vocational training and disabilities in chosen groups. 'Believe in children' is their prime motto. They assure that the most disadvantaged child or young person is given a bright future. They work with families and include fostering adoption and coping with domestic violence. "all children regardless of race, disability, gender, religion or sexual orientation should be included fully in every aspect of community life." (Believe in children. 2007). Established in 1972, the group is an independent organization which champions the right of equality of all the disabled people regardless of physical, sensory, mental ill health conditions. It understands, adopts and implements the social model of disability. Many disabled people internalize the negative message of the Medical model that all their problems stem from not having 'normal' bodies. "We think it is our fault that we can't be active, or contribute to our community." (The social model of disability. 2008). The internalized oppression can make disabled people less likely to challenge their exclusion from mainstream society. The Social model makes important distinctions between 'impairment' and 'disability.' This has been worked out by disabled people themselves. In reality most problems are caused by the way the society is organized. Impairments or bodies are not the problems. Social barriers include people's attitudes to disability and physical and organizational barriers.

According to medical charitable, the society focuses on compensating people with impairments for what is wrong with their bodies. It is done through special welfare benefits and segregated special services are provided. Hence, the organization enables to remove all disabling barriers that cause social and environmental blocks. The board of directors are elected and drawn from disabled people across Wales who are active in local and national disability organizations.
