Continuous Professional Development (also called CPD) helps us to over come these shortcomings. As it is a continuous process of learning, it helps a person to remain updated with the current ways of working, technology, governmental changes and many other aspects [1]. It is especially necessary for the people who take the work as their passion. The people who want to stand out in the crowd of workers and those who desire to develop their professional abilities and awareness with the help of practice and policies for development [2, 3].

Nursing institutes are playing important role in the professional nursing development. Their teaching strategies are innovative. These institutes pay attention to effective improvement in performance of nurses, evaluating psychosocial skills, behavior and knowledge of staff [4]. All this is done through objective and subjective tests, computer based questionnaires, peer evaluation and case studies [5]. They take care that the nurses pay attention towards the Patients by making every possible effort to do the best for the patients.

They teach how to provide high quality care in their departments. How can they find and understand the problems in a better way and try to solve them [5]. They set priorities on how to use the resources in the best possible way for the Safety and betterment of the patients. Nursing institutes also determine, how fast performance improvement is occurring, how often the performance should be measured [6], what is the importance of manager/leader in the performance improvement and many other issues regarding this.

They also learn to work in different environments [7].Continuous Professional Development in NursingFor the sake of better health of people and rapid recoveries, continuous professional development plays an important role in nursing. As the science is progressing the therapeutic ways are evolving too. Old treatments are continuously being replaced by new treatments. The profession of nursing calls for a lot of responsibility. It is very necessary to remain up to date with the changing equipments, treatments and different advanced ways of caring.

All this can be gained only if a person keeps in touch with the new courses being given every now and then [8]. Gone are the days when nursing was just taking care of the syringes and handling the medicines, now nursing calls for proper care, looking after the patients and much more [9]. The Kohlberg theory of moral development proves that an advance practice nurse ought to embrace nursing ethics which are essential in situations like near death, fear and anxiety, drug abuse, organ donation or suicide attempts and were not the part of old nursing.

Continuing professional development helps the nurses to better understand their profession and learn more which makes them stand out in their staff members [10].
