According to the American Bureau of Labor Statistics, the private sector also created 184,000 jobs. There have been assorted industries that have supplied jobs for American citizens in the last year. The retail sector is credited with the title of being the industry that has created the most jobs. In the last year, it has employed more than 44,000 workers. The education and health sector has created approximately 43,000 jobs while the business sector has created 23,000 jobs. The manufacturing sector has only managed to create 14, 000 jobs while the information sector is responsible for the creation of as many jobs as the national government- 17, 500.

The transport sector lags at the bottom with only12, 000 new jobs to its name (Employment Trends, 2013). Other sectors such as the construction have been adversely affected by the economy and so have been unsuccessful in generating numerous jobs for American citizens in the first half of 2013. Changes in Employment Trends in the U.S There have been great changes in workforce diversity in America. With the current labor force and population growth trends, it is likely that the American workforce will keep expanding, though at a lower rate than in the past few years.

This is due to changing demographic patterns. In the 1970s, the American workforce increased by 2.6 percent on annual basis.. These different trends have contributed to bringing a kind of gender balance to the workplace. The year has also seen an increase in ethnic diversity among in the workers that are employed in different industries. For instance, there have been many migrants seeking for work in America who have successfully found work in sectors such as the hospitality industry. According to NRBI (2013) immigrants of Hispanic origin are the fastest-growing ethnic group in the American workplace.

Another cause of the changes seen in employment trends has to do with technological development in diverse sectors. The use of advanced robotics in the manufacturing sector, for instance, will change the type of workers that are preferred in this sector. Technological advances are already projecting the demand for highly specialized workers. They are also generating momentum for changes in business structures and relationships between employers and employees. The concept of economic globalization is also affecting American employment trends.

In the future, it is likely that nations such as America will be forced to face the pressures brought about by trade-related competition. This will obviously affect the American workplace. For instance, today, trade-in services have increased from 18% to 30% in the last decade. America has lost jobs in the business processing and I.T. departments to overseas sub-contractors. The era of globalization which is characterized by growing trade in transitional goods and services, rapid transfer of information, expanding capital flows, and mobile populations could result in the transfer of jobs in greater numbers- which would increase the rate of unemployment in America (Bernard, Eaton, Bradford and Kortum, 2003).
