Besides, this enviously portrays the marginalized and recognized culture. This paper focuses on presenting a response to “Our Voices: Essays in Culture, Ethnicity, and Communication” by Alberto Gonzales, Marsha Houston and Victoria Chen, and my personal experience in regard to the topic. This essay explains that there is an overlap of HHM Commemoration and observance by the commonality of various commemorations such as German American Day, National Disability Employment Awareness Month, National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and others. Moreover, this essay urges students to participate in rhetorical power of heritage commemorations. Furthermore, there are other argument made after observations by Blair Jeppeson and Pucci, whereby they indicate that commemorative monuments are applicable to heritage months such as HHM. The essay explains that HHM, influences participants into distinctive standpoint among the Latin’s and significant engagement in the perspectives, which involve substantial understanding of the community. The essay explains there is a symbolic power of commemoration, which is discovered by Virginia Governor Richard McDonnell, in 2010. In this case, the Governor is said to have omitted a significant aspect of life during the Confederate History Month. Arguably, this prompted abrupt criticism; through the governor sought to make necessary amendments for his proclamation, despite the fact that damages had already been done. On the other hand, the essay proposes a good approach towards HHM, whereby it can be considered an invitation, which offers a chance of learning about Latin people in the society. The essay presents a notion that heritage observances is meant to contribute understanding of Latin, thereby creating a critical understanding of the social issues contended by the Latin. Furthermore, the essay explains that other role of heritage observance, which entails facilitating the process of building relationship and partnerships across cultural perspectives. My personal experience that relates to the essay involves my interaction with Latin people, whereby I have made several friends with them. Moreover, we participate in recreational activities, where we have a chance to discuss about their culture. Apparently, I find no difference in our ways of life, since we all live the same lifestyles despite our culture. In this case, modernization seems to have taken a great toll on people’s lives despite their cultural background. Nevertheless, there some of the distinct attributes that are culturally founded in most of the Latin people such as being religious; for instance, most of them are Catholics. Therefore, this is the experience that I have gathered from interacting with people from another culture, and it has facilitated significantly in promoting harmonious interaction with the Latin people. In conclusion, the ideas presented in the essay regarding culture ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

...? The speech given by Benjamin Freedman talks about what really happened during World War I and World War II and how Jews lied to get nations into the massive wars not only once but twice. He says that both of these tragic wars happened because of the Zionists and how their propaganda to keep their businesses thriving led to killings. It was meant to be an eye-opener for those in the audience as he said that no one believed him the first time that he argued his point in front of people. It was also meant to be a warning to prevent a third World War. Such being his objective, then he has so far succeeded. That he was a former Jew and an insider makes what he is saying believable. There is no doubt that there are things about... The speech...

...Judea Declares War on Germany and Freedman’s Speech It is ironic to learn that certain circumstances in history had happened because people allowed them to. It is very sad to realize that the Holocaust was not mainly an evil act by the Germans; rather, it started as an act of defense against nations that collaborated against it. These are the ideas I have formed after reading two intriguing articles –Judea’s declaration of war against Germany and Freedman’s speech. Thanks to the information superhighway, students like me can access such documents that have historical significance. Upon reading Judea’s move against Germany, I find it strange because what has been impressed upon me is that Germany was...

...? Reaction Paper Reaction Paper The article “Developing Human Brain Functions” by Mark Johnson is very enlightening. It deepened my understanding of the various aspects that relate to the human brain functions. Of particular interest to me is the development of the new field, developmental cognitive neuroscience (DCN). The article mentioned that “of all the cognitive and neurosciences, DCN is probably the field with the most scope for practical and clinical application.” For me, this is something significant because it could lead to early diagnosis of several mental disorders especially among infants. This would be a positive development in the field of psychology as...

...?Full Stories to Change the World Racism has long been a social issue and therefore became one of the most discussed matters through many generations. For the Whites, racism is experienced much differently than they are encountered by the Blacks. Due to their fair skin color, the Whites have long since regarded themselves better and their Black counterparts as dirty and having hearts as dark as their skins. Nevertheless, history shows a different story and this is even compounded by the narrations of people who had first-hand experiences. In order to show the injustices which history relates to the modern people, Navita Cummings James tells about the true stories passed on to her by her family, accounts that shaped her perceptions...

...A Reaction to ‘The Experience of Space and Time’ by David Harvey By merely observing the events taking place in a society under time and spatial constraints, it does occur that David Harvey has established a remarkable point regarding the phenomenon of time-space compression which he claims to have had significant impact upon the state of postmodern affairs. Even if to many this appears unreadily conspicuous, the idea of progress over time in several aspects of living inevitably shifts the state of thought with reference to dealing with the global economy, culture, socio-political activities, as well as technology and other fields in the process of acquiring the characteristic traits of postmodernity. As the gradual...

Deaf reading reaction #3

...Deaf reading reaction #3 I liked this article by Watson “Raising and Educating a Deaf Child” in trying to formulate an argument about the role played by sign language. Even though it bases arguments from a historical perspective about the development of sign language, it can easily correlate with the present moment and be applied in teaching of deaf students. The thesis statement is extremely elaborate as it enlightens on the need to learn and carefully use sign language. This historical highlight shows that sign language has been in existence for a long time. However, sign language has undergone several changes, which have led, to it being formally accepted as a means of communication. However, I do not...

...Deaf Reading Reaction The reading reflection gives a response to an article d “Perspectives on the History of Deaf Education” by Harry G. Lang. In the article, the author explores the growth of deaf education. Here, the author takes various perspectives in order to fully examine the subject under study. Lang looks at how deaf education was carried out under different eras namely the early times, renaissance and during the age of reason. It is thus clear that provision of deaf education has encountered various challenges with the key one being generalizations. These generalizations are on issues of “communication, language, and learning” (Lang 13). As such, I get to understand the...

Indeed, the research sought to confirm the predictions that women selectively avoid interactions with male kin during peak fertility by observing avoidance behavior during peak fertility (Lieberman, Pillsworth, & Haselton, 2011).
