To what extend is the high level of violent crime in Lambeth - Dissertation Example

This paper illustrates that lack of confidence in the criminal justice system may mean that young black men may take the law into their own hands or carry weapons in an attempt to distribute justice and ensure their own personal safety. The police service is said to be the gateway to the CJS and the main visible point of contact to the public in tackling crime and disorder. This means that they have the most direct impact on people’s lives than any other enforcement agency of the Home Office.

According to a various amount of literature and reports, black youths have the highest violent crime rate in London, Lambeth being the worst. The official figures, which examine the ethnicity of those accused of violent offences in London, suggest the majority of men held responsible by police for gun crimes, robberies and street crimes are black.  Studies also show that black young men not only more likely to become offenders of violent crime but also more likely to become victims. The high level of violent crime amongst black minority groups Lambeth is what motivates me to write a report of this topic.
