Asthma as a Chonic Illiness - Research Paper Example

Asthma forms the composition of many other chronic illnesses. The sensitivity of the treatment of asthma has increased over the years. All forms of medics have been giving tips on how to stop the spread of asthma. Government health bodies have also been in the front line in the fight against asthma. In words of Falvo (2009), the treatment and prevention of asthma mainly depends on the main stakeholders in healthcare provision. This paper will focus on asthma as a chronic disease. It will also focus on the treatment and prevention of asthma.

Additionally, it will give an insight on the government participation in the treatment and prevention of cancer. Asthma is an inflammatory disease of the respiratory system. Basically, asthma is a chronic disease which is mainly characterized by falling short of breath and obstruction of airflow. Patients succumbing from cancer have shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing and chest tightness. Generally, asthma is referred to as the disease which causes suffocation due to lack of air passage in the respiratory system (Falvo, 2009).

Cancer is caused by environmental factors and genetic factors. Genetic factor is whereby an individual inherits the disease from the parents. The genetic factor usually is the cause of many cases of asthma. The genes connected to cancer are easily identified at young age. The probability of an asthmatic to pass on the genes to the off springs is at 60%. Most children who suffer from cancer have inherited the genes from the parents. Environmental causes of cancer include cold, fur from pets, dust and inhaling irritants and allergens.

With age the environmental factors become rampant. This is because of profession duties and daily activities. The most widespread environmental cause of asthma is fur from pets. Individuals living with pets are in a very high position of getting asthma if they maintain close relationships with the pets. Another cause of asthma may be due to maternal tobacco inhalation when pregnant. This makes it easy for an unborn child to succumb to asthma immediately after birth. Common symptoms of cancer are coughing, wheezing, and tightness of the chest, shortness of the breath and flow rate of air.

The three major feature of cancer are shortness of breath, tight chest and wheezing. If an individual exhibits the three features the high probability is that they are suffering from asthma (Falvo, 2009). Children are the most east targets of asthma. A child has a weak respiratory system which makes the probability of infection very high. If a child is constantly exposed to irritants, dust, fur and allergens the probability of infection with asthma stands at 40%. Grown people rarely acquire the disease through environmental causes since they have a much stronger respiratory system (Asthma: A Serious and Growing Health Problem, par 4).

Depending on the infecting factor, the infections to specific age groups differ. However, growing children between the ages of 3-10 are in an easier position to succumb to cancer than any other age group. As people get old, their respiratory system becomes weak. With these developments, the chest cavity is easily open to infections leading to cancer. Infection to nationalities usually depends on the demographic location of an individual. People living in very cold weather zones, stand a high possibility to have asthmatic from
