The movement has clearly defined leadership. The members endeavor to display the movements’ power to the public through campaigns and demonstrations. Bureaucratization is the formalization stage. This stage has high levels and well-coordinated strategies. Trained staffs with specialized knowledge assist in running the movements’ daily operations. The movement has well defined set goals (Miller, 1999). Decline stage will slow down or terminate the movements’ activities. Several factors brought about the decline of the movement.

They include repression, co-optation, success, and failure. Repression occurs when authorities employ measures to control or destroy the movements such as passing bylaws that outlaws the movement operation. Co-optation is when the movement leaders get paid off by the government to sell out the movement activities. Success occurs when the movement achieves the set goals satisfactorily, making the movement obsolete. Failure of the movement to organize itself, especially while it is on the emergence stage will lead to an automatic decline (Churchill & Wall, 1990).

Alter-globalization is a large global social movement that embraces unity worldwide. The movement aims at uniting people globally, creating solidarity, and interlinking for effective action. This is the coming together of different social movements globally to share ideas, cultures, and values. The movement supports diverse values of democracy, human rights, environmental protection, and climatic changes but is against the demerits of economic globalization. Globalization allows activists all over the world to share their experience, successes, and challenges.

It offers a platform to discuss alternative practices or policies. This elaborates effectively issues ranging from global warming and finance regulation among the local community life (Giugni, McAdam & Tilly, 1999). Globalization has brought about improved quality of goods and services as a result of the increased competition. The domestic companies have to fight foreign investors and raise the standards of their products in order to survive in the competitive market. Globalization has generated employment opportunities and has helped tap talents in developing countries.

It has facilitated the passing of technical know-how between countries. The opening up of domestic markets for foreign investment has increased capital flow and brought about new technologies (Churchill & Wall, 1990). Globalization has brought about the sharing of diverse cultures and has assisted people in accessing the best educational facilities worldwide. Organizations from individual countries have come up in unison to assist in saving the environment and aquatic life.
