All these legislations were important to the society hence the movement won the admiration of the people. These brought about increased membership in the organizations and changes in peoples lifestyle.In contemporary society, though the Movement activities, people tend to favor eco-products and green lifestyle. Consumers more than ever before are observing ethical buying. They are keen to look for labels on products that show manufacturers concern for the environment or environmental friendliness of the product (Gildea, 1994-1995).

On the other, the Movement has put pressure on corporations to be responsible for the environment. Corporate Responsibility has become a preoccupation of the majority of the big businesses (Ledgerwood, 1997). In this era corporations find it essential to bring back to the society and the environment which sustains their business. This responsibility centers on societal issues, waste disposal, resource conservation and even more urgently global warming (Andrews, 1999). Similarly, governments are pressurized by environmentalists to ratify international conventions worldwide.

This is specifically meant to address global climate change.There are many ideologies and structures in the Movement. However, over the years the main concern of Environmental Movement has been human rights, health, and ecology. In the early periods, the Movement was known mainly for conservational efforts. The activities at the time were confined to specific communities whereby direct action, lobbying came out as preferred means to address the issues. The rate of change seems to vary in different places.

However, as much controversy and conflict have been witnessed in some countries, still to a great extent the movement achieved great successes in a number of developed countries (World animal, n.d).On the contrary, there were a number of failures which prompted the organizations to change tactics.
