The paper “Environmental Clues, Language as a Way of Communicating, Americans as Obese Nation” is a provoking example of the assignment on social science. One example of environmental clues includes the surrounding you are in, informal gatherings or less official places influence interactions among people. For instance, in a wedding ceremony, there is jubilation and celebration all round as compared to a burial where everyone is in a somber mood because of the grieving situation. This different occasion influences your way of communication with the people or persons around you. It also creates an expectation of the other parties due to the environmental cues. One’s workplace or in a different business environment creates a formal mood. Therefore, the form of dressing should also be professional, and the language is respectful and very professional.

Visual prompts are another example of environmental cues that aid in communication. An example of this is chats and pictures used in classrooms by teachers to help pupils better their learning. Sign language is also another way meant to communicate, Signposts and traffic lights on our roads also communication to pedestrians and motorists of when to stop, get ready or go. The red lights symbolize stop, orange lights means to get ready and green is to go, as for the pedestrians the use the traffic lights to know when to cross the roads.

Territory in workplaces or at home is used to mark boundaries and communicate about someone's space and privacy. It sends a message that the person values their space It demonstrates the person is organized and there will be a conflict if limits are not observed.

Both the communicator and the audience have a responsibility to each other, it is a two-way process. For any smooth and efficient communication; the speaker should ensure that they are transparent, ethical, and prepared. They are also to make sure that the hearers understand what they are saying. Likewise, the listeners are expected to show up in attendance, be respectful, and attentive to grasp information put across. For example, in a classroom, the teacher is supposed to convey some message to the listeners which should be well put while the students should engage the teacher by asking questions and give input where needed
