STORY ON DEATH This old man was a tycoon in his village; he had six children and two wives. The first wife had five boys while the second wife had one baby girl; this man was the source of help to the street families, orphans, widows and the physically challenged. His family lived happily as one and enjoyed the fruits of their father, to them life was extravagant. He took so many children to his own school and provided them with the basic needs. His name was well known by many regions across the nations for he was not only a village champion but also a world champion in spite of his cardiac disorder. He was a political leader whose heart was full of compassion, empathy, loyalty, real love, committed and dedicated to serve his people. His leadership to the nation was highly recommendable for he served in various stations. His initial role was to establish and improve a growing economy to his people. After one year of engaging in political warfare, his condition deteriorated but still he was not ready to quit from his seat of opposition. He was forced to take a medical leave by his fellow colleagues but all this landed on deaf ears. He struggled for survival for almost three months and his effort was not in vain. After full recovery, his dedication to service led to his promotion as the senior commander in the armed forces of his republic. In his new position he was recommended as the best security guide especially in the environmental matters, he ensured security is well distributed and it is during his reign there were no reports of death, misuse of power or any kind of unfair judgment. Two years down the line when still under the police department, his country men were hijacked and captured by neighbouring country for no justifying reasons. He took this burden together with his colleagues and he led them under his control in a fight against his neighbours. It was at such a time while he was ready to take a move, that he was alerted to change his program and prepare for new and special responsibilities, together with his few colleagues. His mind thought it was just the usual parading of the armed forces but this time around, he was in for a shock. Every operation was dashed when he was informed about his assistant (Alex) who was among the captured culprits. Alex was arriving that evening from the reserved premises where he had experienced a brutal fight and ill treatment. He was supposed to be guarded for twenty-four hours to prevent any inconveniences. This man volunteered to keep his eye on him no matter the risk while in his hospital room. He stationed other police officers all over the hospital environment for he knew his colleague’s life was a threat to many people. Rumours began to spread all over concerning Alex death but some people believed the same people who escorted him when he was arriving, could be the potential threat to his life. During this period, he took hold of his faith and remained focus to see his assistant making it in life. He took a step of courage and started conversing with his sick friend wishing it could not be the last talk, because his condition was suggesting so. He was badly wounded on his spinal cord and part of his head had scars. He started by reminding him all the good encounters they had together, the struggles they overcame and their future plans concerning the rights of their country men; “hey Allan, he asked bravely” “am fine sir”. “Today I have been remembering the last trip we made to Australia, and the barriers we encountered in our group, do you remember”? “Yes, sir” Allan answered. “Do you think we will ever be defeated by anything if at all we were able to make it in that season?, the senior asked” “Absolutely nothing, not even my condition, answered Allan” .In deed this man believed inside of him there is nothing like defeat as long as you are willing, able and determined to press on. After along session of his wise words to the sick man, he encouraged and impacted hope in his dying statues. The man continued taking care of his assistance with so much diligence and hope. While still in that small room, his scars began to bleed all over and his odour assiduously assailed this man’s nostrils as it spreads all over to an extent of being mistaken with a dead person Five months latter Alex was discharged from the hospital with no illness, and a session of Entertainment and celebrations followed afterwards to crown and recognize the service of a hero. Year after year, this man work improved from level to level and this made him so famous all over the continent. He got so many opportunities of meeting with prominent leaders and he was not afraid of expressing himself as he represents his fellow citizens. He always did his best part to see his people taken care of no matter their differences in tribe, race or families background; to him everybody was special and deserved equal treatment. Thirty years later of dedicated and recommendable service to every individual, the life of a well known hero became to an end, after his cardiac disorder could not be treated for it was beyond medication treatment. He died in a hospital after being in the intensive care unit struggling for breath. His death shocked so many people and leaders with majority of them becoming psychologically affected. Some could not bear the pain of loosing such a hero and they decided to terminate their own lives in order to be buried together with this hero. The whole nation was mourning, grieving and celebrating a life well-lived over his deeds for he made an impact in peoples’ lives. His portraits were distributed all over the cities with most of businesses, newborn children and learning institutions taking after his own name. His people mourned for one month but finally he was laid to rest in one of the heroes’ corner grounds and it was done in a very unique way for future memories Unfortunately, he left no will of inheritance among his family members and this issue developed a family fight few months after his burial. The issue became so serious and presided to the court of law. This case became too complicated for even his relatives were claiming for inheritance. Although not much of his property was given to his relatives, they were not in a position of letting go their share. This in return raised a family conflict and fight. Although most of his money was distributed to his children through the court order in form of school fees and some were deposited in his wives account for maintaining their family, the fight for property still continued. Later on, his family who once lived happily, celebrating to have a hero among them, broke up, and separated after everything he had owned was grabbed by his own brothers. Finally, the family was left without property. He will forever remain in the memories of many especially his own family. The gap he left was unbearable and no one can fill his space. Death separates a loved one from his people; this creates a very big gap, which cannot be filled by anybody, the relationship, love, and bond forever remains to be a memory. Most children are left with or without one parent or both parents. Some of them may be lucky to be taken by their relatives while others have no one to cater for them; they end up being street children, garden boys, house girls etc. all the dreams and visions they once had becomes a history. In most cases children absorbed by their relatives, end up being mistreated and abused, while a number of them are denied the freedom of choice or movement and their basic needs are not provided. Most people experience a period of mourning following the death of their beloved ones; it can be so serious to an extent of causing stress and depression. However this pain has no specific period of being overcome for it can last for a lifetime only the individual’s can decide when to let go although some counsellors play a big role in curbing the long effects of pain and grief. In psychology perception, crying has been noted to be one of the easiest ways of overcoming stress especially in death conditions. In most families where the breadwinner or the main person who connected family members happens to die the probability of that family splitting is higher. This is mainly caused by miss-understanding, pride, depending on others for survival and finally poverty, which leads everyone to mind their own lives. In conclusion parents, counsellors, friends and relatives should give care, support and concern to individuals who are grieving especially young ones who may not be in a position of understanding the concept behind death. This creates a major difference to the way they will cope with any future loss. Although death has no limits, every person should be prepared in terms of investment and inheritance, and also write a will if the conditions suggest so. For most couple’s intimacies is a pre-requisite for clear communication concerning bitter encounters and painful emotions and by such moments one should be there for each other for two are better than one.
