Population Demographics and Genetic Diversity Demography refers to statistical study of the human population which analyzes the various kinds of the living population. It involves the study of structure, size and distribution of the population and temporal changes which include migration, birth, aging, death and time. Therefore, deals with the features of a given population. Demography also covers the criteria of a given population like ethnicity, nationality, education and religion (Zipwho, 2014). In this paper, we are going to compare and contrast the demographic of the zip code 85719 and the neighboring zip code 85705. Included in the census data include the marital status, occupation, education attainment and household income. In the zip code 85719, the median income is 23,324 dollars as compared to the zip code of median income of 23,047. The median income for zip code 85719 is which shows higher living standards as compared to zip code 23047 which has a slightly lower living standard (Zipwho, 2014). Thus, the living standards of these two places in relation to income are almost the same. The median income of zip code 85701 is 19337 while that of 85706 is 27,369 which are the highest of all thus having the highest income levels thereby reflecting high standards of living. The cost of living index is a price index which measures the cost of living of a place over time. The cost of living index of zip code 85,719 is 112.3 while that of zip code 85705 is 60.8. In addition, the cost of living index for zip code 85701 is 124.1 and that of 85,706 is 67.7. From the comparison, the cost of living index is higher in zip code 87701 as compared to other areas because a higher indicator is a sign of high standards of living (Zipwho, 2014). The index provides a comparison of various zip codes and it is an indicator of whether they will maintain the current standards of living or the standards will increase or decrease. In terms of marital status, the number of married people in 85701 is 29.4 per cent while those divorced is 17.7 percent. The percentage of people married in the zip code 85706 is fifty point nine percent while those divorced is eleven point four percent. For zip code 85705, the percent of married people is forty one point seven while those divorced is sixteen point nine percent. In comparison with the zip code 85719, the percent of married people is 26.2 percent and those divorced is 10.7 percent. In relation to others, the zip code 85717 has the least number of married people as well the least number of people divorced. In terms of population size, zip code 85719 has got a population of 44181. Furthermore, the population of zip code 85705 is 55083 which are a bit higher to zip code 85719. The population of zip code 85706 is 70601 and lastly the population of zip code 85701 is 4,506 hence the area with the least population (Zipwho, 2014). The area with zip code 85,706 has the highest population size in those areas hence there is big disparity in population size in all the areas. The zip code has a population of different races that is Black, White and Asia. Zip code 85701 has a percent of 3.5, 46.7 and 1.0 has the population of black, white and Asia respectively. In zip code 85706, the population of black, white and Asian is 2.8, 22.3 and 0.2 percent respectively. In addition, zip code 85705 has their percent of Whites, Blacks and Asians as follows, 56.9 percent, 2.7 percent and 3.0 percent respectively (Zipwho, 2014). And lastly, the population of different races in zip codes 85719 is 67.6 percent for whites, 3.0 percent for Blacks and 5.5 percent for Asian and19.2 percent for Hispanic Ethnicity. The Hispanic Ethnicity for zip code 85705, 85706 and 85701 is 32.6 percent, 70.9 percent and 44.4 percent respectively. The population sizes of different races differ greatly in comparison with 85719 whereby this zip code has the lowest number of population of Hispanic Ethnicity as compared to other areas. The population of Whites is highest in Zip Code 85719 which has a percent of 67.6 as compared to the neighborhood areas while the one with the lowest is zip code 85706 which has the lowest number of population which is 22.3 percent (Zipwho, 2014). In the 85701, 23.3 percent are owner occupied homes with Median Rooms in Home of 3.4 while In the 85706 zip code 65.8 percent of the homes are owner occupied with Median Rooms in Home of 4.4. For the 85705 zip code, 49.0 percent of the homes are owner occupied with Median Rooms in Home at 3.9. And lastly, in the area with the zip code of 85719, 32.4 percent are owner occupied with Median Rooms in Home is 3.9 percent (Zipwho, 2014). The education attainment of various areas near the zip code 85719 is as follows. For zip code 85719, the number of people with College Degree is 41.1 percent while the number of Professionals is 41.2 percent as compared to zip code 85705 which has the number of College Degree at 13.1 percent and professionals at 21.1 percent. In zip code 85706, the College Degree holder is 5.5 percent with Professionals at 13.8 percent as compared to zip code 85701 which has Degree holder at 34.4 percent and the number of professionals at 42.1 percent (Zipwho, 2014). For 85701, the Median Mortgage to Income Ratio is 21.1 percent in comparison with the zip code 85,706 which has a Median Mortgage to Income Ratio of 23.1 percent. For 85705, the Median Mortgage to Income Ratio is 21.7 percent as compared to our area zip code which has the Median Mortgage to Income ratio of 20.3 percent. For 85719, the average household size is 2.4 and the percentage of male to female ratio is 100.2 as compared to zip code 85705 which has the average household size of 2.2 and the male to female ratio at the percentage of 92.4. In zip code 85706, the average household size is 3.4 and the male to female ratio of 103.3 in terms of percentage as compared to zip code 85701 which has the average household size of 1.9 and the ratio of male to female percent at 119.9. A number of issues cause the disparity ranging from the population size. The education attainment is also a factor as well as political nature of the different areas (Carson, 2011). Another cause of disparity is the availability of natural resources and the disposable income to consume by the various factors of the economy. The zip economic condition of zip code 85719 in relation to others is relatively average (Zipwho, 2014). The demographic attributes of the population is also a factor . The percentage of the blacks, whites, Asians and Hispanic and the way they relate contributes to the growth or decline of the 85719 and its neighbors (Bodkin et al., 1999). The population, average household size, median age, the male to female ratio as well as married and divorced are the demographics that have to be looked into. In conclusion, the demographic factors of 85719 in relation to others have provided an insight to areas that need improvement and those that they are better. The demographic trends also show the areas that have witnessed potential growth and those that are under stagnation. It’s an indicator of the strengths and the weaknesses of the area besides the opportunities and threats of the area. The information provides an indicator of the area in relation to others.
