Self-assessment Weekly self-assessment Personal self-assessment Basic characteristic: self-drive Jungian 16type personality is ISFP Team building My listening skills are good as I have taught myself to listen to every word with close attention being paid on non-verbal cues. Aim always willing to delegate responsibilities is situations that I think delegation will improve effectiveness. I do not enjoy working in group because it means that I have to work with people of different characters. I have the opinion that am not a type X individual and do not need supervision in order for me to do my best. All I need to be of maximum productivity is a conducive environment with minimal interruptions. Motivation My main motivation always come from the need to succeed. Sometimes I also feel like the need to acquire power usually drive me. The reward that I value the most is recognition. Dealing with conflict My most preferred ways of solving conflicts are avoidance and compromise. When negotiating I usually prefer using collaborative approach to conflict resolution. Dealing with change It usually take me a long time to adopt to change. I have observed that I usually do not like changes because they have a destabilizing effect to my productivity. As a result I usually do all I can to make sure that I can avoid change. Stress management When it comes to stress management I can say that I am a type B. however, the good thing is that I am not the kind of person who have many interaction in my day-to-day life. As a result my life is not stressful. I am not burned out as I am comfortable and satisfied with what I do in my day-to-day life. My emotional intelligence score is high given the fact that I am able to tell what emotions people are having at a given time and respond to my own emotions without letting them affect the way I interact with other people. Diversity I do like work place diversity because it enable me to find some people within the office environment with whom I am comfortable with. I like working and interacting with older people because I usually get to learn many things from them than I can learn from younger people. Both genders should be given equal opportunities to play different roles in a working environment as long as they have the capacity to deliver. Workplace culture I value a workplace culture that shows appreciation of individual brilliance even if individuals have to work as a team. I like job enrichment because it makes work more interesting. When things are repetitive they usually get monotonous thus become boring. Working in such an environment is less motivating. My most preferred organization structure is divisional structures. Final assessment Perception of self By character can be described to be self-driven because of the fact that I always prefer working by myself. In most cases, I have always noticed that I base my decisions on my senses rather than my intuition. Aim also a type of person who will rather use my feelings rather than thinking. This can be proved by my high sensitivity. Given these aspects of my characteristics, it can be assumed that my jungian 16 type personality is ISFP. In relation to how I interact with my colleagues, I can assert that my face-to –face communication to be good. However, my greatest concern would be how I interact with people that I am not close with. Under normal circumstances, I usually feel shy when communicating with new team members. This usually change immediately I get used to people. As a result of this characteristic it usually takes longer for me to settle in a new team, but always make a good team worker as soon as I get to know all the team members.Sometimes I find it hard to express my opinions to my colleagues because of the fear of being judged or my opinion being used to judge me. As a result, I always prefer working by myself whenever it is possible. I also do not like getting orders from my colleagues and would in most cases prefer receiving orders direct from the boss. As a result, I usually find it insulting if a member of the team that I am on delegates any task to me. This feeling is always there regardless of whether or not the team member involves is of a senior position. Perception of others One of my greatest weaknesses is handling changes or stress. Whenever there are any changes in the manner in which things are done, it usually takes me time to adopt to the changes. This is in most cases psychological. One thing that I have noticed is that my productivity usually increases whenever there is some change in the environment in which I work in. This has in some cases affected the manner in which to work as part of a team because it is always expected of a person to welcome any type of change when in such an environment. People have always seen this to mean that I am not strong enough to handle stressing situations. However, my opinion is that they always have the wrong impression on me. In most cases I usually take longer to respond to changes because of the urge to have the most appropriate response. Therefore, I always prefer taking my time to know how I can best accustom to the various changes that might take place in a working environment. With regard to the response that I usually get from my colleagues on my response to change, I will try to make sure that I show confidence whenever I am approached by a new challenge. Even the bravest people usually have their doubts and fears is such situation, but focusing on one’s abilities can help in overcoming the fear. Teamwork abilities My greatest role when working as part of a team is to help others. I have worked with many people, and am sure that my listening skills rate high. With good listening skills someone can be able to help their colleagues because they will be in a position to know exactly where the problem is and what kind of solution will be best suited for the situation. Poor listeners usually have a hard time when it comes to helping their colleagues when working as part of a team. When working as part of a group, I have realized that I usually have a number of weaknesses and strengths. As mentioned herein, one of my most outstanding strengths as a team player is my listening skills.my listening skills have always made it easier for me to communicate with other people. When it comes to sharing ideas, I am always willing to do so as long as the person with whom I am sharing the ideas with is someone that am comfortable being around. However, this has always played as my weakness too, because someone does not get to work with people that they are comfortable with around. Sometimes a person is forced by circumstances to work with people with whom they are not in good terms with. Professionalism demands that a person should be able to work with any person, regardless of the personal differences that they might have. High level of sensitivity can also hinder someone’s ability to work as part of a team. When working with people who are highly insensitive a person will always find it offending when these individuals do or say things that are considered to be insensitive. Communication is a very important aspect of teamwork. Without proper communication it will be almost impossible for people to work together. I have a number of shortcomings when it comes to communicating with other people. One of these weaknesses is my shyness which makes it hard for me to have effective communication. I am not the kind of person who likes talking loud or involving oneself in arguments. However, it should be noted that not all arguments are unhealthy. Some arguments can lead to a proper understanding of the issue being tackled. Arguments only become destructive if people involve in them for the sake of winning an argument. Given the fact that I do not like arguments, my most preferred ways of solving conflicts that might involve me and any of the other team members are: avoidance and compromise. These techniques have proven to be effective for people who have the belief that avoidance of commission is the best way to go. Motivation My greatest motivation in life comes from the fact that I would love to be the best in anything that I do. That is the reason as to why I usually try all I can so that I can learn from the people around me. Am also motivated by competition, which implies that being the best is the only option that I am left with. Working with people who care and are always there to listen and help whenever needed usually motivates me. Areas of improvement Based on the personal assessment, I have come to the realization that my teamwork abilities need to be worked on. I need to start finding a way through which I can share ideas with everyone as long as they are people with common interests. This is because in a working environment, we do not always have to work with people. Working on my sensitivity, thus being able to work with insensitive people will also be of high benefit to me.
