In the process, different researchers and scholars alike have done a series of investigations into the complicated field of studies. In as much as everybody appreciates the efforts from the previous academics, it is a fact that more is still necessary. Despite the concerns, it is apparent that some have shown a great understanding of the field. The human in ordinary terms refers to any person with the ability to reason in any argument and provide concrete decisions. Additionally, it also refers to an individual with a capacity to listen and assess different situations. Similarly, humans have emotional, psychological and social aspects that allow them mix well in the society. Despite many authors existing in the fied, the paper focuses on Ralph Waldo’s nature and Whitman Walt’s Song of myself and how they have addressed the human. The eight chapters in Nature attempts to bring into light human’s tendency to accept knowledge instead of investing time to find out the reality. The relationship between man, God, and nature forms the key part of discussion making the book important to understanding human. Indeed, human experience of life is also important in the book, as it brings into light different aspects of life (Emerson 06). In the book, the human is perceived as an individual with the advantage and ability to make rational decisions as well as choices with valid reasons. In this light, humans have the capacity to unlock different mysteries of the world. Arguably, science objects to providing the theory of nature, nonetheless led by man the broad truth still hangs on a balance. Nature and man are two different things; however, both rely on each other for survival. In as much as others can argue that man depends on nature for various things, on the contrary, both have a symbiotic relationship with man depending on nature for survival while nature relies on man for conservation. From a common knowledge point of view, nature is anything separate from man including other bodies, art or other men. The human is a separate entity from nature. For example, from the book, when man gazes at the sky, it is evident that separation exists. The stars in the sky provide a scenario to judge the “perpetual presence of the sublime” despite the separateness the intersection between humanity and God forms the core part of life. According to Emerson, Humanity understands the goodness in nature. The spiritual and intellectual capacities exist under a special relationship with a higher limit to conserving nature. The physical reality of nature gives credit to the loving nature humanity. Man has an absolute responsibility to take care of the world. The humanity has a limitless capacity to revise the virtue of nature. According to Waldo, the human soul is has the autonomy to choose whether to go hell of heaven. A universal point of view makes the intrinsic and divine goodness part of humanity. In the book, humanity is an essential part of nature (Emerson 11). The progressive yet dependent life makes sense through an example that makes it a joint venture. Apart from the notable reality, it is also important to bring into light the religious aspects of humanity that empowers or defies these actions. Based on religion man has an understanding whether to control the goodness in him or change direction towards nature. The decision is important as it creates an individual connection that allows understanding of the direct relationship between God and nature. The importance of humanity illustrates the perception of truth in addressing understanding. Certainly, the reason for humanity existence shield people from acknowledging the persona connection between nature, God and humanity. The meaning of nature resides in the ability to form a good communication between the God and nature. In essence, Emerson stresses that nature exists for humanity; however, a good connection is important to prevent unclear scenarios. Certainly, life is a race constituting different things (Emerson 33). The vehicle of thought used by Emerson inspires the translation of humanity to the beauty of nature and truth. Last but importantly, the spirit of humanity settles on idealism that connects mind and matter. It is also clear that the society is fragmented into various sectors that define humanity. Waldo suggest the approach to humanity as a journey and process constituting various things. Evidently, this ranges from spiritual, ethical and environmental requirements. The vision of totality shows humanity as part of nature. Contrary to Ralph Waldo’s Nature, which focuses on the surrounding and the role of man, Whitman Walt’s poem Song of my self takes a different perspective. Whitman traces the development of humanity from a child who is at the elementary stage of development. Certainly, the symbol of generation comes out at the beginning when the child asks the meaning of grass. In an attempt to enlarge the meaning of grass, the author uses various words and symbolic explanations to provide a good understanding. The cycle of growth within the poem brings on board the vitality of various things in life. Arguably, growth at an early life is full of questions, but it ultimately ends with death. The story in the nineteenth century of United States at a period when the country experienced a high growth rate. Undeniably, the high growth rate led to high number of deaths as a result of competition and lack of proper care. Humanity in the poem takes a third party perspective. Walt Whitman pictures humanity as an individual of great importance hence the title song of my self. Human body plays a significant role in providing an understanding physical contact. For example, as the speaker associates copulation to death humanity appears to under threat (Whitman 203). Certainly, the body faces problems from various physical possibilities. The boundary between self and world has a distinct difference between situations and spaces. According to Whitman, humanity is a spiritual communion that forms a vessel to the world. Additionally, the soul forms a point of interchange between men and women. In as much as humanity is responsible for democracy, it is apparent that Whitman lost faith in the same belief after the civil World War. Despite using unconventional and symbolic ideas in the poem, humanity mirrors through the poem. The many plants denote multiplicity and increase in humanity. For example, the many flowers, wheat, trees and bushes create a distinct and possessive highlight of life. The conception of humanity starts at the self, but initiates a boundary during death, a factor that creates understanding into the challenging wonder (Whitman 245). Humanity has a sexual life that creates complication when understanding. For example, from the poem, sex brings a woman and man together but does not form a unit. The spectacular argument expresses the connection between the soul and body. From this perspective, humanity is a complex living being of communion. In conclusion, humans are the most complex people in the world. Both scientific and creation investigation have attempted to unveil meaning, understanding, and operation; nonetheless, none have done justice to the research area. Interestingly, many authors have directly or indirectly worked on the topic. Ralph Waldo’s Nature and Whitman Walt’s Song of myself traces humanity to various factors. Waldo, for instance, relates various human actions to nature. According to the book, the moral obligation and rational respect surrounding nature ensures continuity.
