One of the best ways to preserve the story of a family is to write it down. Our task: Pick out a member of your family (this could be a person who is living or dead) that you would like to write about. This biography could include many elements: the person’s history, accomplishments, skills, hobbies, interests, job history, family life, struggles, etc. Your job will be to weave all this information into a thesis-driven biography that gives to the reader a sense not only of who this person is/was and what he or she does/did, but a good sense of their personality and beliefs. You will need to conduct research to gather enough information to fully get a clear picture of this person. You can use your own experiences with this person to describe them, but you also must have research along with it. Not using research for this essay will result in a failing grade. This important person may be a parent, sibling, or friend. It is a great feeling for one to have a person of guidance in his or her life. Nonetheless, I became utterly confused when I was about to choose the right person to talk about. Suddenly, I thought about my Dad and what he has made for my family and me. Dad has been the owner of a successful medical company in Saudi Arabia. He has outstanding education qualifications. Dad received his Master’s degree from Louisiana State University and a Ph.D. in Business and Hospital Administration from California State University. Writing an essay about Dad is a kind of giving back. He deserves that. Dad is my reference, my guide in marking all my targets in this life, and an example of a person who has become successful due to sufferance in needs. My Dad is my reference in life. I would go and ask him rather than anyone else, because Dad is the only one that will show me how to do things rightly. Importantly, Dad always uses examples from his life experience when he wants to support me, and I really love his way of advising. Following my Dad’s advice, I first enrolled in the English program in Eugene, OR, and later moved to Boise to study my major. Also, Dad advised that I should communicate a lot with the American people, so that I can learn about their culture and have a good language practice while studying at the English program. This has been possible only because I followed what Dad once said. Frankly, that was a great help from my father. Hence, his advice is so valuable to me. Dad is also my guide who scores and supports all my goals in life. He has a good insight in scoring goals. I do not hesitate to ask him about anything, especially studying or everyday problems. This is because I know that Dad will give me as much background as he can on the issue. Indeed, Dad always does his best to clarify the ideas to me. For instance, when I was thinking which major I would go with, I found myself confused about choosing between Finance and Electronic Commerce. While I found them equally exciting, I was supposed to take just one to exclusively focus on it. Torn apart between these two choices, I asked Dad for guidance as for which specialization was better, i.e. was more on demand in the labor market. I thought that my Dad, who owns a company, had enough background to help me choose the better option. And Dad did not disappoint me. He advised me to major in Finance and simultaneously take some classes in Electronic Commerce if I found I was still interested in it. Dad’s advice, he said, resulted from his evaluation of the labor market needs. As matter of fact, today’s labor markets need financial employees. It is related to their steady increase which brings more job opportunities for those who majored in Finance. In addition to good advice, Dad always pushes me in pursuing my goals because he knows well how much I need his help. Since childhood, Dad has been my pilot in life. My Dad has always had high sufferance in needs. Because he grew up with a poor family, Dad had to face a hard life in his childhood and youth. However, that didn’t prevent him from catching his dreams. For instance, as I have mentioned above, Dad received his Master’s degree as well as his Ph.D. 30 years ago. That secured a good position for him in Saudi Arabian labor market. Dad had worked in the Ministry of Health Portal for twenty-five years till he got the Assistant Minister of Health Portal position. When he retired from his job in the Ministry of Health Portal, he went on to create his own company. It took about eleven years. So, owing to the great experience Dad accumulated in his previous jobs and thanks to considerable efforts that Dad made while building his company, he has managed to turn his business into one the largest medical companies in the Gulf.
