Biracial Relationships Some time back, biracial relationships in America used to be forbidden and even illegal. Currently, it has become a thing of the past and no longer regarded as a prohibited behavior. Our modern society has accepted such relationships; we’ll see it has its pros and cons. Human beings are social creatures, meaning that they cannot live without the support, concern and care for each other. Due to this kind of understanding, human beings have been keen on developing permanent and useful relationships which will serve them right (Hinde 8). These relationships would range straight from the family context all the way to global interrelationships between nations. In order for man to have healthy relationship, there should be a number of things that have to be always right, otherwise the relationship will come to an end or become unhealthy. This is a research paper that will only focus on issues surrounding biracial relationships. Biracial relationship is where two people of different races are in a marriage relationship or in a courtship. Race has been a major issue when it comes to relationship; people have even been charged under the law for racially discriminating others (Hinde 28). In this world, biracial relationships have become very important because they play a big role in determining how different individuals interact or live with one another. Biracial relationships are the exact thing that unites us as human beings from different areas, societies and professions towards living together and understanding one another. In terms of relationships, human beings will talk of friendships, relationships which involve dating and resultant marriages, other interactions within the community, and towards the exchange of ideas among different societies (Hinde 110). This means that we cannot talk of sociology without talking about relationships (biracial), vice-versa being true. Biracial relationships take place in the society today, and these relationships would be guided by different personalities developed by different individuals within a given society. Understanding Biracial Relationships It is well known that human beings cannot live without being in some form of relationships. This comes about by default or through some organized means. A biracial relationship will be any kind of association existing between some two people or even more, and in which the association is based on things like love, liking or even luminance (Hinde 16). At times, biracial relationships might spring about from regular business practices and interactions, and sometimes from some social commitments between individuals. Different biracial relationships would end up being interpersonal, and these take place in friendship, family, marriages, church affiliations, work, in the neighborhood contexts among others (Hinde 90). At times, we might end up having these relationships being governed by the law, some mutual agreements, or even through cultural beliefs (Hinde 103). In nature, majority of the human relationships tend to be expected to be healthy unless otherwise. However, it should be well understood that, since we are human beings, not all biracial relationships tend to be healthy whatsoever. For instance, we will have cases of relationships which are purely abusive and others which are of codependency. Family relationships come as a default, so that one will have to be in a relationship with his/her family without question (Hinde 28). The nature in which different individuals in a given family relate with one another determines the success of the relationship. How Biracial Relationships are characterized in the Media The media has been in the front position promoting racial equality. It is certain that racial equality movements are short-lived; social punishments were imposed on those who were involved in biracial relationships. Laws prohibiting biracial relationships were endorsed and those who broke them faced the set penalty as per law then (Hinde 18). The media later became in the forefront in advocating the minorities who were mostly racially discriminated. Biracial children have often been the media’s main attention. It is worth noting that this has had credible results among the younger generations. Nowadays biracial discrimination is a non-issue among the younger generation which exists in environments characterized by social acceptance. Marketing and advertisements in the media have in great lengths promoted racial equality. This has lead to children making friendships with people with common interests like they have, not regarding their race or ethnicity. When this happens, biracial dating and consequently biracial marriages has become common as they mature (Hinde 19). However, the only setback has been that all those who engage in biracial relationships have often become used as stereotypes in the media. More often than not they are faced with problems with parents or family members. This is often because the older generations of our parents are direct products of the biracial discriminations. Characterization of Biracial Relationships in the Academic Press and Books Acceptance and forbearance of biracial relationships in programs and social groups in where writers are also involved have been witnessed. With immigration to the United States been on rise, this translates to an increase in diversification population and so is the case in schools. Books and academic press are some of the tools that have been effective in eliminating problems associated with racial discrimination. Meanwhile, it is worth noting that there is a thin line between conserving cultural distinctiveness and maintaining biracial equality (Hinde 52). Biracial relationships have been an issue revolving around the issue of Love. Partners in biracial relationship certainly face diverse challenges in the context of their families or in the society where they live. Notwithstanding, if their relationship is founded on genuine love, then this should be the focal point for their relationships and the challenges becomes a miniature issue for them to handle (Hinde 81). Conclusion The best way towards a better co-existence is by ensuring that all types of human relationships have been maintained as healthy as possible. This means that there should be a number of approaches that have to be put in place in ensuring that such a status is arrived at. To begin with, it would be something nice that all individuals are keen in ensuring that the always do what is right towards a better biracial relationship (Hinde 25). The first approach, thus, will be in ensuring there is constant communication which leads to solving of all the faced problems in the relationship. This improves trust, especially with individuals who are facing it hard from their families because of their difference in race. In the long run it makes the society a better place to live in. There should also be mechanisms of ensuring that all unhealthy biracial relationships have been addressed accordingly for better human co-existence. Towards better relationships, a solution should always be sought for when there are chances of dying signs. This will become the first approach towards ensuring that healthy relationships occur between individuals, families, and even societies. Most of us are probably allured by the attractive notion that effortless relationships exist. Therefore, the only trick shall be ensuring that all people give an open ear to each other, so that they can be constant understanding which leads to overall better performance of such relationships. This will result in friendships and love which last forever (Hinde 71). This means that everyone should be willing to believe that relationships should be something unconditional, guided by strong instincts, and giving room for tolerance towards a better future in the societies. It is, therefore, a big effort for everyone to face the fact in which relationships should be given the best of an attention so that they are never neglected or destroyed.
