Extract of sample "Important Influence on the Identity of a Transmigrant"

Which is a more important influence on the identity of a transmigrant: the country of origin or the country of residence?. And why they are equally important? The concept of identity is an imperative feature of human being in the social circle. This identity is achieved in different disciplines of the social make up such as political identity, social identity, and personal identity. Though there remain different identities, the majority of people go for social identity, as they have to compulsorily depend on the society. People of any country expect a sort of recognition and respect among the other people with whom they spend their activities. Political and personal identity comes next in preference, as these forms of identity belong to notable and popular persons in the society who establish themselves in terms of economic stability, implanted talents, and service to others. The life of immigrants and transmigrates differ a lot when we analyze their living condition. In recent days the percentage of immigrants have been increasing considerably, as necessities are in demand in every field of civilization, these necessities includes choosing a better place to settle in their life, impact of technology and employment in other countries, climatic condition and better opportunity found in all working fields. So people have developed a tendency to shift their residence with the view of earning in a better way than what they might have earned in their native country. In recent days the level or living condition of transmigrants seem to be going through an improving stage, as they found themselves getting the advantage of both their cultural benefits as well as the other culture where they intend to settle. The concept of multi-cultural phenomenon works effective in the case of migrants. Since they tend to adhere both the cultures, and as a result they develop their nature of acceptance towards any culture or community. This in turn would be more effective in the case of the next generation, who would have the feeling of multi-culturalists. When we come to discuss or analyze in terms of a “diasporic crisis” [1], one thing has to be made clear. That is, people who feel that they have lost their identity while living in another country, and people who still feel that they have not lost anything specifically regarding their identity. There are many migrants who try to hold their identity, though they might have shifted their residence to another country. This might be due to the fact that if identity crisis peeps out it might develop to a different thing leaving the individual in an ambiguous state of mind. So the correct potion would be to get rid of the crisis and think and work practically. There are some important influences for the transmigrants, such as they get political, social and personal identities in a social atmosphere. And while considering their younger generation, more benefits seem to arise in terms of their education, cultural programs and in all disciplines of life. Many countries do indeed release a lot of concessions for those non-native children, in other words the children who settles in other countries are given special attention in schools. If they come out successful, the result will extend good benefits for the next set of children. They seem to come in the good books of the educationists. While on the other side, the problem of race relations is still persisting in the community, the treatment given towards the black community, was worse during the Foot Notes:[1] A term for mass migration, used particularly in post colonial studies to denote the scattering of people away from their home lands under pressure such as colonization or slavery.www.adamranson.freeserve.co.uk/critical%20concepts.htm previous days, as this could be realized what had happened in many of the foot ball matches held in Luton. Because Luton was a place filled by a mixed group of Asians [Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Indians etc.], but the participants were bullied either by the audience or by he audience. But this situation is found to have changed a lot as some of the authorities have realized that Asian students are really worth in football matches and the only point was that they were not given the exact encouragement. Nowadays the indigenous players do support the immigrant players and many of them have raised their hands to support them from getting insulted by the others. One interesting has to be mentioned at this point, that we could find players playing for other countries, because they have settled a long time before. Take cricket for instance, Deepak Patel, an Indian by birth, playing for New Zealand. And in NASA, we could find many scientists from other working with their talents realized by the authorities and the U.S Government. While reviewing the sports and scientific field there seems to lot of non native scientists and players working and playing for other countries respectively. On the whole the chances for participating for the transmigrants are more when comparing with the indigenous people. Because the transmigrate get opportunities both in their own country as well as in their immigrant country. The concept of living in a multi-cultural community is another interesting feature for the transmigrants. Because they learn to live in different cultural background, though they might be interfered by their elders, the impact of other culture and custom will be more. The fact is that younger generation is the one who will be bounded by both the cultures. The multi-cultural effect will teach them to be fragile and social with others. They will not develop a feeling of an alien when they decide to live in a multi-cultural concept. Another influence would be that people react to the differences in different ways. For example an opportunist would select the one which is found to be more favorable for him, in such cases he or she will attend to any one of the cultures, it might be their own or others’, but this cannot be considered as a good sign though this is possibly happening in many countries, called as influence of the western culture. As a result immigrant people tend to develop a broad mindedness towards considering certain characteristics. In the present world there could be seen Chinese and Malaysian transmigrants in Singapore, Black transmigrants in America, Asian transmigrants in many parts of the world. But the immigrants as discussed above do not actually move only due to a particular reason. But they have been driven away due to many reasons; evacuation has also become one more reason for their settlement in another country. Natural calamities also play an important role for people’s immigration. Such as flood, or earth quake etc. Immigrants moving from their home country to a host country would eventually, over generation, become part of the mainstream host culture and the later generations would de better than the first generation of immigrants” says [ Upegui- Hernandez, from City University of New York. http://www.spssi.org/Upegui-Hernandez%20spssi%206-04.pdf] While analyzing arguments like this it becomes quiet clear that immigrants make use of the opportunities to establish themselves, while moving towards other countries. In this aspect they never loose their identity on the hand they get a strong identity while they are in the process of establishing. A deep study of the immigration of people and their identity prove to be very interesting one. Because the immigration is increasing day by day and people are living through a world filled with competitive background. And it depends on those who consider the practicality of life and proceed according to that. As far as the immigrant are considered they attain a state of maturity of looking into things with a broad angle, and the concept of multi-culturalism will definitely take them to world of success and will teach them a new way of life through which they could lead their life at any kind of situation and culture. The concept of multi-culturalism will have a positive effect of identity, because people belonging to multi-cultural society are at the point of proving themselves in both their cultures, that is they get chance to live both as a native and as a successive immigrant in another country. Shifting becomes very easy to these kind of people. Identity becomes a problem only to those who strictly stick to their own culture and never tend to have a balanced view of the others. But this is found only in very few elderly people, the present generation reflects a balanced tendency towards this phenomenon. Then the chances of opportunities in sports and other activities for the immigrant children do have a better welcome. This could be considered as one more influence for the immigrant identity. They get a strong identity while they prove themselves in sports or other activities in their immigrant countries. People get a sort of recognition or identity as belonging to both, when they become popular in another country, people identify them by two ways one will be that of which country they come from and when they go deep collecting their details they identify them by their native country. On the whole the immigrants nowadays are having better opportunities in both their country and their immigrant country. The identity depends upon In what way they tend to prove themselves. Though in previous days the racial problems were at its peak level, it has been slowly degraded by the present generation but the severity of the problem had reduced a lot. And people are identified more by their ability than by their nativity. Bibliography.
