Annotated Bibliography Charting the Empty Spaces of Jean Rhyss "Wide Sargasso Sea"." Frontiers: A Journal ofWomen Studies 9.2 (1987): 23-28. Print. This is an article that uses realism as a unique approach in addressing the characters in jean Rhy’s wide Sargasso Sea. The aspects of cultural and racial differences as displayed in the main book are acutely discussed in this journal. “Empty spaces” is a term used basically in this article to show the depth of the themes of love, hate, racial prejudice and cultural clash in the novel.

Antoinette represents a struggle to reach her desired destiny. A notable aspect of lifestyle that this article discusses is the role that gender aspects in the society. She represents a voice whose calls is often downtrodden but refuses to be swallowed in the mixture of a social and cultural clash. The choice for this article as a reference in this essay is inspired by the approach and analysis which the writers used. It diffuses all the themes that Rhy uses in a detailed yet realistic manner.

Many of the views that literature analysts use are objective unlike this particular article. Despite that, this article can be criticized for being a little of leaning to the protagonist’s side. It is only fair that an analysis be balanced and looks at a story from different angles. In summary, this article is a good read and can be a reliable basis from which to refer an article. 2. Print Winterhalter is credited for having intelligent views on many topics that touch on gender aspects in the society. In this article, she provides an analysis of the stylistic devices that Jean Rhy uses in her novel. Unlike many of the articles that concentrate on themes and characters in their analysis, she presents her thought from a third-party point of view. This creates an alternative view for the book and readers can develop independent analysis of the books in question. Her technique of narration and explanation of major themes as viewed by independent thinkers is admirable.

Among her articles that discuss these themes, this is the best explained and objective according to many pundits. By choosing this article as a reference point of Wide Sargasso Sea essay, one can borrow a lot of aspects from the writers view. It is qualified because it demonstrates the essence of discussing various societal issues such as racism and gender prejudice. She succeeds in narrating various strong points which form the basis of the novel. The article too can be criticized because of its string views which at some point, discredits and portrays the weakness of the novel.

One can take a deeper look into article’s structuring and creativity to understand the reason for its choice in the novel. These two sources have an inimitable way of analyzing the major themes that Rhy brings out in her novel. They have a high degree of relevance and usable because of their content. The writers of each article are qualified experts who are respected in the field of literature. Many of their works have formed subjects of discussions and analysis of this field in many parts of the world.

Ultimately, by using the two articles, the essay will have sufficient backing.
