Synthesis essay 1.1 Informative synthesis There are a number of reasons that the writer gives of not going to buy a computer. The first reason is that he hates to think that his work as a writer could not be done without a strip –mined coal. In the second reason that he gives for not buying the computer is on the cost that he would wish to pay for those that he does not admire. The author gives the main reason for not owning a computer is that he does not want to fool himself as he believes that one is able to write well with a pencil that when there is use of a computer. In a reply to the letters of not owning a computer, all the writers are believed to be satisfied with their computers and all that they stand for. The next articles are on the case against helping the poor. The article argues that everyone on the earth has equal right to an equal share of resources. In the current situation, two thirds of the nation are poor and the other third comparatively rich with United States being the richest of all. The article argues on the plans that are made by those countries that are rich and those that are not rich. This brings the difference between the countries. The third article is on sustainability. In the recent situation, the term sustainability has been wrongly used to refer to practices that are reputed to be more environmentally important than others. The term is indispensable and should be used as the cornerstone for all the planning that is used on a country. The axioms of sustainability are defined in the article. The first axiom is that a society that remains to use acute resources untenably will collapse. The second axiom is population growth or growth in the rates of consumption of resources cannot be sustained. The third axiom is that to be sustainable, the use of renewable sources must preceded at the rate less than or equal to replenishment. The forth axiom is that the use of nonrenewable energy sources and the rate at which they decline must be greater or equal to the rate of depletion. The last axiom brought about is that sustainability requires that the substance that is introduced into the environment from human activities be reduced and compact harmless to biosphere roles. 1.2 Argumentative synthesis Body The issue that all the three essays are concerned with is on resources. In the first essay, the argument is on the reasons that make the author not being able to buy a computer. The author argues that he is linked to the energy corporation but not happy on the resources as the resources are depleted by the energy corporation and there is no replacement as the energy sources are those which are non-renewable (Flanagan, 2002). The wife of the author bought a typewriter some years back but the recourse is still good as it was that time. He thinks the resources that were produced in the past were better than the ones in the current situation. The next article also focuses on resources and how the use of resources has led to distinction between the poor and the rich countries. A metaphor is used in the article and the reference is made to a spaceship. The metaphor is used in persuasion of people and nations to stop wasting and polluting natural resources. The reasons that they give for the persuasion is that there is a common share of life on planet and no single person or institution has the right to waste, destroy are use more than a preferred share of its resources. The third article is on sustainability of resources. The article brings out the five axioms that are to be considered in using resources for their sustainability. The five axioms including the first axiom are that any society that remains to use dangerous resources unsustainably will fail. The second axiom is population growth or development in the rates of intake of resources cannot be continued. The third axiom is that to be sustainable, the use of renewable sources must preceded at the rate less than or equal to replenishment. The forth axiom is that the use of nonrenewable energy sources and the rate at which they decline must be greater or equal to the rate of depletion (Flanagan, 2002). The last axiom brought about is that sustainability needs that the substance that is presented into the environment from human activities be reduced and concentrated harmless to the function of the biosphere. The commonality in all the articles is on sustainability and proper use of resources to make them more available and also the resources are to be handled in away that make their use be over a long term with minimal depletion. Sustainability article summarizes all the articles on the proper use of resources. When resources are well used, the difference that occurs in nations and regions would not exist. The poor countries will enable rising in line with the other developed countries when there is sufficient and fair use of resources. The reader is hooked into the articles through the interactions and the persuasions that they are given to reserve the environment and the resource that are available to be used effectively for sustainability. Sustainability is brought to the reader so that the life that they live gets improved. Through the five axioms of sustainability, the readers are able to summarize the requirements that are needed from them so that the environment is preserved and the nations, regions and their own lives improved. The articles have changed the view that I had on use of resources. The articles focus on proper use of resources without making them depleted. The former view that I had on making good use of resources was through using nonrenewable sources and reuse. The five axioms of sustainability that have been presented in the articles have made me learn on the main considerations in using resources. The other view that I have gained from the articles are on the new technology and the proper use of old resources. The reasons that one of the author give s on buying a new computer. Conclusion In the current situation, there is high concern with environment and economic sustainability. In terms of social aspect of sustainability there have been relative neglect and far the least development in those areas that do not well use the resources. The articles are able to bring fresh knowledge to the minds of the readers as the readers may find knowledge that they need in using resources and making sure they are satisfied without depleting the resources. When resources are well used, the difference that occurs in nations and regions would not exist. The poor countries will enable rising in line with the other developed countries when there is sufficient and fair use of resources. Synthesis analysis can enable the reader have different thought on a topic. This is after understanding and comparing the articles that are related and approach the topic through different perspective. Reference Flanagan, J. (2002). Speech analysis; synthesis and perception.
