President review Introduction Woodrow Wilson review was the preeminent and most dedicated leader. He has the qualities and attributes that assisted him to influence a multitude of people to move or shift towards a direction he desired. Woodrow Wilson was a scholar, an idealist, activist, and politician who tend to believed that “there is no cause half so sacred as the cause of a people. There is no idea so uplifting as the idea of the service of humanity”. Yet, Woodrow was considered to be a racist. Thomas Woodrow Wilson was born on December 28th, 1856 at Staunton located in Virginia; one of the four children to Janet Wilson and Joseph Ruggles Wilson. His family shifted to Augusta located in Georgia, a year after he was born. In 1870, they moved to Columbia and then later moved to Wilmington in the year 1884. It was then that Woodrow later drop his first name, Thomas. He received his early education from ex-Confederate soldiers who had attempted to set up some schools after the end times of Civil war. His father taught him religion, British history, and literature. After attaining sixteen years of age, Woodrow attended Davidson College, located in North Carolina. One year later, he dropped out of college because of his health condition. In the year 1875, Wilson attended a College of New Jersey known as Princeton University. He then graduated in 1879. The same year, he enrolled at the University of Virginia to study law but dropped out of school again due to his numerous personal reasons. After going back to his home, he continued studying law (Burrage 54). Woodrow later set up a legal practice with a fellow scholar who hailed from the University of Virginia in the year 1882 and he eventually passed the Georgia Bar Exam. Woodrow later abandoned the practice of law and legal system and decided to finish his education at the John Hopkins University located in Baltimore. He was enrolled as a graduate in political science and history and in the year 1986, he earned his PH.D. With his numerous research study and analysis, he published the dissertation termed as Congressional Government: A Study in American Politics. The dissertation transparently argued about the power that the congressional government posses over a weak postwar Presidency and that for a constitutional transformation of powers separation between the President and Congress with that of the British Parliament. Wilson Woodrow was a professor and became a president of Princeton in the year 1902. Nature of the Times He also inspired and acted as a catalyst in the movements of civil rights and freedom. Woodrow Wilson was the president of America during the era of World War I. Wilsons platform had to call for limits on the contribution of campaign by tariff reductions, stronger antitrust laws, currency reform, corporations, banking, a federal income tax, senator’s direct election, a single term presidency, and the giving the Philippines independence. It is because of Wilson that the American economy was break loose from all monopolies. He advocated for a restored economic competition that was considered to be benefiting the consumers and minimize the power of the nation’s corporate wealth. He then named this program as "New Freedom," in contrast to Roosevelts program named “New Nationalism" . Wilson agreed and acknowledged Brandeiss argument that the idea of regulation would never combat the issue of corporate power. This is because corporations would tend to use the power they pose to control the regulator (federal government). According to Wilson, if a huge firm is deprived of its artificial advantages, like protective tariff, the role of the government could be minimal; this is because natural forces of economical competition would ensure everyone has been subjected to an equal chance of prosperity. Wilson Woodrow won the presidency election with few votes. Character and Personality Intelligence: Knowledge is considered to be a tool of fundamental significance. Wilson was well acquainted with the organizational norms, community policies, and the constitutional laws. This will assist him to have a mindset that is committed to excellence. The knowledge was essential in assisting him in the process of decision making. A transparent example is where his intelligence was depicted is when he told American citizens to be neutral in deed and thoughts in order to safeguard the country from a division (Howard 1103). Woodrow’s assertion was purely based on idealistic. This is because the American roots and stem off of people’s differences. Vision: Visions are the long term objective that is have been foreseen or thought by a leader. Being a strong individual advocate for foreign policies, Wilson created numerous visionaries from the start of World War I, up to the Versailles Treaty, in the year 1919. Examples of Woodrow’s visionary policies entail the declaration of American neutrality, the war against Germany, and the decision of establishing the League of Nations. Integrity: Integrity is considered to be an essential quality that should be considered when selecting a leader. Integrity entails honesty, trustworthy, respectful, and rewarding. Integrity flags all the characters that a leader is required to have. This will build respect and trust between the leader and the citizens. It will also eradicate issues of corruption and racism. Wilson fought for trust and transparency in the American foreign policies. Confidence: Wilson Woodrow should have confidence. He believed in himself. He was able to believe that he is well equipped with the knowledge and ideas that will assist him to accomplish a given obligation. He also had the ability of leading people to move in a direction that will assist them to accomplish a given obligation. Achievement and Failure Achievement; Woodrow Wilson had numerous achievements in his life, in the year 1917, Woodrow declared war on the Germans, on January 8th 1918. Wilson Woodrow presented and spearheaded his 14 points and campaign for peace. He was deliberately awarded the noble peace prize for his outstanding work or performance in ending World War I by negotiated and organizing the treaty of Versailles, which ultimately culminated the establishment of the League of Nations. It also caused the ratification of the long awaited sixteenth amendment. Income tax turned legal. He was the president of Princeton University (Howard 117). Woodrow Wilson ran for a position of governor of New Jersey in the year 1910 and ultimately defeated his rival candidate of the Republican, Vivian M. Lewis. While in office as the governor, in a spanning period of six months, Wilson had established a state primary. He later ran for presidency and won the run again. Failure: According to specialist, the ultimate failure of Wilson was involving his wives in the affairs of the country. The act made the country’s vital information to be vulnerable and in jeopardy. Evaluation Wilson was well educated and equipped with the skills, knowledge, and ideas that will assist in coordinating and moving individuals in moving in on direction of achieving a given obligation. Creating or developing a vision that assisted Wilson to go through his or her term successfully and accomplish the mission is done through thinking and imagination. This gave room for Wilson to visualize the future with the utmost optimism mindset. A vision gives the leader a chance of exploring the individual’s maximum potential that will stir them towards achieving or accomplishing a certain task. Although he is influential, he won the vote with a slightly larger margin. He captured or attained 41.9% of the vote (6,296,547) to his rival Roosevelts who attained 27.4% (4,118,571) followed by Tafts 23% (3,486,720). Eugene Debs, candidate for Socialist Party won with 6% (900,672). According to the Electoral College count, Wilson won in at least forty states, thus giving him 435 votes. Works Cited Zinn, Howard.
