Obama Care Introduction “The Affordable Care Act puts consumers back in charge of their healthcare” a statement that was placed in the U.S department of Health and Human Service’s online website. Many other statements supporting the Affordable Care Acts have been posted through the social media explaining the benefits of the Act to the public and while hiding the limitations and the disadvantages. The Affordable Care Act was approved by congress and president Obama in 2010 and become affective in 2014. The law forcefully persuaded the people to obtain health insurance by levying taxes on people who do not have a health insurance. The Affordable Act does not provide people opportunity to get equal health care because it organizes insurance in levels based on the public condition. If a person is poor they will pay less for the insurance and get unqualified doctors compared to middle and high income earning people who pay more and get better health treatment. The Supreme Court even wrongfully supported the Act by making it mandatory for individuals to purchase healthcare insurance under 2010 Affordable Health Care Bill. Obama Care places huge pressure on young adults affecting their priority and health by forcing them to buy insurance when they do not have enough income to afford it. Obama Care is also harming businesses and this can also lead to worsening of the economic conditions of the USA. Body The Obama Care affects and destroys young adult’s priority. Healthy young adults are forced to buy insurance and this prevents them to save their income in order to secure their future. Due to this young adults may not be able to meet the expenses required to address any unexpected health condition in future. Obama Healthcare Act rather makes the young generation dependant on governmental health care programs. Elders in the United States gets more support from the government in shape of Medicare when it comes to their health condition because some cannot work and others do not have enough money to take care of themselves. Studies by the U.S department of health and human service reported that elder people represent the highest percentage of the Americans who signed for the Obama Care, while young adults represent the lowest percentage. Young adults strongly disagree with Obama Care because it forces them to buy health insurance even when they are healthy enough. Due to this the money invested by young adults does not benefit them and rather benefits other populations such as the elderly who have signed for Obama Care. According to the article published in February 2014 by Wall Street journal, medical reports stated that the health care system is spending 8000 dollars on mental health care for young adults who age 27 and above. This is because they are being emotionally pressurized by the government to spend more by subscribing to Obama Care and and working more to meet their ends meet. Forcing young adults to buy insurance even if they are most likely to be in healthy condition is worthless and will leads to clogging the system and creating more wait list. This is because Obama Care promotes them to visit the doctors more often when they even do not need to do so as they have invested in health insurance. This will result in delays in the health care system and will become an obstacle for other people who really need to visit a doctor. This is because frequent visits by healthy young people will keep the physicians occupied even when there are limited numbers of physicians in United States. If the young adult population is not forced to buy healthcare they will schedule their visits to the doctor only when they need it and will even take care of themselves in order to avoid paying for visiting a doctor. This will automatically create more space for other people who need doctors more. Obama Care is further burdening the young adults who are already financially weak. Young adults have a tendency of saving in their early college years. They plan for their future by attaining a degree in order to get a job which will help cover their basic needs and help them to be an affective part of the American society. Forcing young adults to buy health insurance when they are not highly independent nor have a great amount of saving to support might create serious dilemmas not only for young adults but even for the entire health care system. The Act makes the matters worse since the insurance bill is a mandatory bill and not buying insurance can lead to huge fines. The bill may de-motivate young adults with low income or no income from pursuing education as they might have to choose between gaining education and gaining an insurance that has been forced on them. Due to lack of education young adults will have fewer chances to be employment in better companies. Even if they choose to attain education they will have to work more by getting more than one job. This will over burden them and may result in them developing mental and physical disorders. Male Clinic journal states that, working too much without breaks leads to mental and physical sickness which makes them unable to perform their work effectively and efficiently. The Obama Care does not only influence young adults but it affects also harms American businesses and society. Businesses are not making enough money due to bad economic conditions. Obama Care Act forces businesses to buy insurance for their employs if they have 50 or more employees. This can lead to increase in unemployment rate and harm the speed and the quality of business production since companies may try to avoid purchasing healthcare insurance by hiring less than 50 individuals and organizations may even reduce the number of hours their employees are allowed to work. A good example would be the Trader Joes Company which reduced employees’ work hours by making them part time workers instead of permanent. In order to prevent unemployment, shutting down of businesses and increase in prices of goods and services Obama Care act needs to address the provisions that impact the businesses. Other than the negative effect of Obama care one should also consider the benefit of the Act. The Obama Care benefits children born with disease and patients who have long history of health disorders from being rejected to be covered by insurance companies. In the past Insurance companies would refuse these patients because of the high cost of coverage. However, now insurance companies are forced to provide coverage for patients boring with disease or those who suffer from long-term diseases such as diabetes or heart disease because now they cannot be rejected from accessing healthcare insurance. In the past pregnant women were denied insurance coverage. Obama Care even provides insurance to pregnant women who cannot afford the expenses of seeing a doctor. Even though the Obama Care contains some benefits for the public yet it is more harmful than being useful. According to the American constitution all men are created equal. This statement allows people to get equal opportunity to education and health. Obama Care is operating against the constitution as it does not provide equal healthcare opportunity to all individuals. In other worlds, the amount of money paid to the insurance companies depends on the person status and condition. For example, poor people pay less for their insurance compared to middle and rich class people. One might think that it is the perfect healthcares system since people are paying the money based on their ability and income. The truth is that people who pay less for insurance get bad doctors and healthcare opportunities compared to people who pay more on their insurance. This hierarchy in the healthcare system prevents people from getting the same opportunity of health care treatment. As a Citizen of the United Arab Emirates I understand the law embodied in the constitution even though the UAE have constitution that is based on Sharia law, the constitution is fully known as a living law. Just as our constitution is a living document, I find it difficult to understand the U.S Constitution. This is because it is hard for me to understand why people cannot get equally access opportunity to healthcare in the U.S when local and migrant people with different status and condition get the same health care in the UAE no matter from which class they are they still see the same doctors. Not providing equal access to healthcare can affect the poor individual health negatively even if they already have bought insurance. For example, when a family with poor condition where the parents does not have time to cook as they spend their time working all day to get income to support their family they will tend to feed their children bad food with high sugar or oil such as fast food leading to increase in the chance of developing health diseases. Not only can that food that contains high sugar affect those children teeth badly when not getting the right treatment. As the sugar gets stuck in the children teeth it will result in infection and damage the whole body when they are adults. In this case the children will end up as an adults with bad health condition and their only fault is that their insurance could not provide them with a better healthcare as compared to the healthcare that middle and high-class people get. Conclusion Equal opportunity is not protected under American law and therefore people don’t; have equal accesses to healthcare and education. In their effort to creates Obama Care the legislators thought that they were giving the people equal opportunity as result they forced people to buy something by using the constitution premise of congress ability to tax is farce because now people are forced to pay for service that does not truly render them equal.
