Such challenges include conscientious opposition to precise police policies, the adoption of ad hominem lawful defense tactics, as well as building alliances with the inmates in the prison. Though working in correctional institutions is very challenging and tough as well, ethical norms must be supported despite the challenging conditions in which the correctional staff may find themselves (Brodsky, 1982).
Police administrators get hard time when trying to conduct a facility since they have to deal with budgetary constraints. The constraints influence the way the administrators balance between treatment, administration and operations, not even considering the challenges they encounter when dealing with courts as well as the media (Brodsky, 1982).
Under “The One Hand On and One Hand off Doctrine” the federal courts grants the freedom to the individual to manage their facility. In a correctional institution there is a cross-gendered department that consists of both male and female correctional officers which have a female inmate population, the indicated presents an essential obstacle when it is a male correctional officer who is authorized to work in the female housing pods alone. The position he is placed in is very precarious. Since the U.S. Supreme Court ruling is absolute, there are, therefore, measures and controls that the administrators must implement in order to guard the officers against manipulation that may arise from the inmates (Brodsky, 1982).
