The Effects of Disability on YouPhysical disabilities among people are caused by different factors and in some cases, they cannot be avoided. Basically, a disability is a physical condition on a human body which is caused by either natural or other factors and in most cases, it means that the body of the affected person does not function in a normal way like a physically fit person. However, if someone is disabled, it does not mean to say that he or she is no longer a human being. As such, we tend to have positive feelings towards such people.

Against this background, this paper seeks to narrate some of the feelings I have experienced towards my brother who lost his arm in a car accident. The paper will narrate in detail the experience I have gone through towards assisting my brother in order for him to cope with the situation which was making it a bit challenging for him to do certain tasks on his own. When my brother was involved in a car accident, his arm was seriously injured such that the doctors had to remove it. The only thing that made me happy is that he did not lose his precious life.

However, the most challenging thing I discovered in him is that he could not perform some of the tasks which require the use of two hands on his own. I developed a positive feeling towards him such that I would help him in completing different tasks he could not perform on his own. The main aim of my action is to make him feel that he is just like any other normal human being despite the fact that he had lost his arm. I also wanted to make him feel loved so that he does not feel out of place as a result of his physical disability.

Because of the brotherly love between me and my brother, his disability had an effect on me such that I could help him in performing tasks that were a bit challenging for him to do alone. I would help my brother to do things like washing and ironing his clothes. Indeed, he could perform some of these tasks on his own but he was facing some difficulties. Whilst he could do some of the things like bathing, I would always give him assistance whenever I saw that he was experiencing some challenges to do them.

I would also help him carry things which were heavy after realising that he could not do it on his own. In most cases, I would help to perform a bit challenging tasks such that he would not strain the other hand. I sympathized a lot with my brother such that I could feel the same difficulties he was experiencing. More importantly, I wanted my brother to see that he is loved so that he would not feel emotionally stressed or unwanted in the society as a result of his disability. From this experience, I have realised that it is very important to care for people with physical disabilities.

The main advantage of such action is that the affected people will also feel that they are not outcasts in the society as this would enable them to feel that they are important just like any other human being. As a religious person, I feel that people who are helpful to people with disabilities are likely to get blessings from the Lord for doing good things to other people who are in need. People must show love to each other regardless of their physical challenges. This also helps the affected people to feel important in their respective communities and this can help them to live normal lives where they are not badly treated by others.
