Running Head: A Significant life changing moment A Significant life changing moment Academia Academia Research “Throughout their life they engage in a multitude of various activities, think all sorts of thoughts, and undergo changing moods and emotions. Yet, in spite of the ongoing flux that people undergo during their lives, they still sense that underneath the changing surface of their lives, they are essentially one and the same person”(Chandler, 27: 2004). There are different personalities and different lifestyles in the world, no body knows what is going to happen next, life can be changed in just one stroke from nature and it happens to almost every one, entire fate gets changed from even very small changes in life, in this discussion I would tell you what turning points my life took and how I changed my self entirely. I was born in a lower class family with so many problems and I saw my parents fighting all the time with no mercy, both of my parents were quite opposite to each other and they had no match, still I wonder why God made such a terrible match, but now I realize that it all happened because God was willing me to get birth from that couple, I was never comfortable as a child, though I was the only one to take birth and had no one around except my parents, as a kid I never gained attention of my parents because of numerous reasons, firstly my father who was a sports person, used to have very less earning and what ever he used to earn he never gave it to me and my mother, this was the first clash between my parents, secondly my mother also had to do part time jobs in order to support me and herself, so there was no way to get individual attention from either of my parents, life was never easy for me, I still remember when I used to walk and visualize all the happenings of my life at an early age, I tried my level best to bring my parents closer but was failed each time, may be because they were also never comfortable with each other and also they never thought of sacrificing their lives for me and one day they both got apart forever, I was five when they got divorced, it was decided that I would live with my mother as my father was never willing to keep me and that is what exactly happened, “Modern childhood is often portrayed in terms of enhanced democratic relationships between parents and children, with the assumption that childrens negotiating power has increased over time”(Jensen, 1: 2003). My father was a strange person and he was said to be psychotic by my mother in which she was quite true, my father remarried to his old time friend who was a nurse at some hospital but he was again a reluctant person and this also did not pacify him at all, I was living with my mother and just after two months of divorce my mother also married to one of her old colleagues and it was decided that I would live with one of my maternal aunts, by the age of six I was left all over alone, had taken admission in a near by school and used to spend only evening and night at my aunts home who was a good lady in a sense that she had no one to care about and she used to be a nun and used to spend all the time in church and also she had given me a room to sleep, it was really difficult for me to adjust but I managed some how, now at this age I realize that I never learnt anything from the world but my own relatives taught me everything and I am proud of it. I never had friends in my entire life, I never understood why I never had but there are so many questions that are answered in my mind with out any great thinking such as I never had friends because I was simply never willing to share my terrible life with any one and I had formed an aura around me right from the beginning so that no body could enter in it, for many people time is said to pass so quickly but for me I always felt every moment that was passing, time kept on passing steadily and one day in the summer holidays I was taken to the church by my aunt, I was nine at that time when I started going to church regularly and I used to pray daily than before moving to school, this was a wonderful experience as now I had finally found someone to share the happenings with, someone to whom I was never ashamed of telling my life and happenings in it, perhaps He already knew everything about my life but was giving no expression, the time kept on passing and I found the life no different except the fact that I was really into my religion by than, it does not really mean that I had decided to be a priest or someone but it means that I had found someone to share my life with that is why I used to go to church daily, by the age of eleven I was totally alone and had no concerns with anyone in life, I was isolated and had no such willingness to accept any other person in my life, mean while I got the news that my father experienced another divorce and he was living alone the same way I was living, at numerous times I thought of going back to my father but I had no courage as a long time had gone and I was afraid if my father would scold me, so best thing I decided was to keep my self quiet and follow my father’s way of living that is what ever he earns he invests it on himself without sharing it with anyone, one can say that my father was turned out to be my ideal as I was very impressed by the way he was living his life. By the age of twelve I started copying my father in every day life, I used to think the way my father used to eat, sleep, drink, walk etc. and I used to do the similar without telling any one who I was copying though it is not fair to copy someone but I was only copying my own father and that is why I never felt any shame in doing so, I was totally involved in self love and I have spent eight years of my in self-love, what made me love to my self was the fact that I was never involved in bad activities. I had a great character, I never bothered any one, I was an independent guy at an early age and I was not a kind of burden on any one though was helped a lot by my aunt, one day I got the news of my mother’s sudden demise, I was thirteen at that time when my mother departed because of an accident, that was another turning point in my life. When my mother was taken to the church, it was not the same one in which I used to go for prayers, in the church I heard a strange musical sound I was unable to find what it really was but it was just spectacular and really had a mesmerizing effect on my mind, I never heard of something this strange though I had tried my level best to find out what it exactly was but was unable to recognize the instrument, previously I had heard only about guitar and piano, but this was something different and was having a wonderful impact on my mind, in fact I forgot for a while that I was there because of my mother’s demise, from next day and onwards I started going to that church, it was quite far but yet I went there and I used to listen the same music daily and also pray there, one day I asked the church’s father about the music and he said that it is a (instrument name) that a person living near the church plays every morning and evening and I was listening the same music, father also told me that he teaches the music also and that free of cost if finds you unable to pay, I was extremely happy in knowing it. On the next morning I went to that house at the time when no music was being played, from the reference of father I went there and I met that man who was in his late sixties, I asked him the details and I also asked him if he could teach me the same instrument that he plays, he said that he does not only teach the one instrument that I listen every morning but so many others, he than asked me about my life and for the very first time I told my life story to someone who was alive and can also give expressions, that man gave me a lot of courage and quickly agreed on teaching me the same instrument that he used to play, the (instrument name). I was almost fifteen when I learnt (instrument name) completely, by now I had finished my schooling and was looking to get in some high school for further studies and I got admission I the near by college, in the college years I was also very alone and I had no social life but I started performing music in the various college shows and that was the point when I realized my importance, with in the first year of college life I had been able to form a group with a band in the college, these people were the first of my age to whom I interacted the most as we all were working for the same goal, but yet I was completely involved in self-love as I was yet not a social person, though it was a need to have a group as I was a musician by than, when I ended college life and my band’s performance was in full swing I was eighteen and my aunt than told me so many things about my father, my father’s character that I always thought very noble was not that good, he was really a psycho when I heard of his reality from my aunt who was not a liar as she was a sacred woman, so at that point of time I decided to quit following my father as I was never really willing to be like him, one can say that he was a looser. By the age of nineteen I had decided to be a social person that I never was, I had started earning from the job of a computer technician and also started performing music by the night with the same group I had formed in the college, I was never involved in girls and affairs previously as I had some deep love with my self and was not willing to solicit any other person to get into my life but I realized that I had grown up and was in bad need of someone to share my entire life with, and one day I found (girl’s name) in (place name) and I fell in love with her, which was again a very good decision and it also changed my life with a greater influence, and sooner I married her and now I am about to be a father which is another wonderful thing that would again bring some positive changes in my life. “The second element of success, judicious fitting of children to places, may be experimental at first, and sometimes several changes are made before the right place is found for a child. While too much changing should be avoided as tending to destroy the feeling of a permanent family life which we wish to foster in our children, experience often shows that a child who has been a failure in one place may become a success in another [that is why I am successful]”(Thurston, 192: 1930). So my entire life changed because of few small events, firstly if I would remain with my father I would never be able to live independently and also I would have no knowledge of things that I have achieved in life, there is also a possibility that I would be a psycho like my father who does not know how to fulfill his responsibilities and also the other event that took place was my mother’s demise, she departed from this world and gave me a gift in the form of music as if she would not have died I would never be interested in knowing and learning music, perhaps God had done this entire planning and it was He who planned it so well for me that my mind can never reach it. So it is my entire life so far and I am still looking for good changes, hopefully to see them soon. “Through the setbacks and the losses I am not discouraged. I rejoice in the victories and take confidence that He who lives inside me has empowered me to win the battles as I walk with Him, one day at a time. I look forward to the day when the enemy will be conquered fully and finally in what will be the ultimate life changing experience”(It Changed my Life).
