Different experience of two passengers in the airplane In considering my point of view essay I recognize that there were a great variety of ways I altered the different descriptions to reflect different realities of the situation. One of the primary ways that the essay rhetorically reflected two realities was by envisioning that two entirely different passengers experienced the airplane flight depicted in the descriptions. In these regards, the reality of the situation did not simply occur differently, but was perceived differently.
While it would have been easy to rhetorically structure two different events, it’s clear that it is more powerful an essay in describing the same event from different perspectives. Consider the first essay that notes that the airplane experience was compromised because of the cramped nature of the seating. In these regards, it states, “As the airplane left the ground and the loud sound of babies crying began, it was clear that the flight was going to be trying. The seats were bunched next to each other like eggs in a carton.
” Here the essay indicates one person’s perspective upon entering the plane and allowing the cramped space of the seating to ruin their experience throughout the flight. Conversely, the point of view of the other passenger is not as adversely affected by the cramped seating. In this example, the essay states, “When the passengers took their seats and reached towards the magazines in front of them they settled into what would become a wonderful airplane ride across the Atlantic Ocean. While the airplane wasn’t as large as traditional airliners it had a number of charming elements that made it more enjoyable than other flight methods.
” These examples not only demonstrate how one passenger can perceive things differently from the simple nature of their physical size (as one space is cramped for person one, but not person two), but also rhetorically demonstrate that this experience shaded the individual’s perception of the entire trip. Another rhetorical strategy that was implemented was showing how different people could interpret the same event in different ways. In terms of these essays, they demonstrated how the talking and general noise that occurred during the flight was interpreted differently, with the first passenger finding them irritating and the second enjoying them.
Ultimately, these rhetorical elements demonstrate the means by which the same event, when experienced by different people, can be perceived in entirely different ways. Final Reflection When writing this assignment I came to realize a number of important aspects concerning writing and the way we perceive things. While the rhetorical analysis reflected the ways that the same event can be viewed differently, more importantly were the ways that it accomplished this task. In these regards, the most important elements I learned while writing this essay were the means by which literary techniques can be used to demonstrate two different perspectives.
For instance, the very size of the seating became a literary device that was used to influence the way that the rest of the person’s flight was perceived. Ultimately, it’s these elements that were the most important aspects learned in constructing the essays.
