Discussion Q1 Modern and post-modern management theories greatly helped businesses to improve and improvise their productive outcome by adapting to changes (Nixon, 2003). The modern management theories were focused on the productivity criteria and traditional management worked within the broader parameters of organization’s administration and management guidelines. They relied on rules and regulation to improve organizational productivity. Thus, concept of mass production had relied on the administrative and managerial prowess.
Post modern management theories of late twentieth century were vastly different due to its labor friendly policies that believed in evolving joint goals. At the same time, changing external factors like changing preferences of consumers, globalization, advancing technology etc. became important factors within business strategy. Thus, post modern managerial leadership met the challenges by developing new products and services that met the fast changing preferences of people. (words: 135) Discussion Q2 Globalization has fast emerged as a major factor within the organizational culture that considerably impacts the performance of the individuals within my work environment.
The diversity within the workforce has become critical aspect of cohesive output. Globalization is defined as ‘the diffusion of goods, services, capital, technology, and people (workers) across national borders’ (Sirgy et al., 2004: 253). It has resulted in building multicultural societies, comprising of people coming from different color, race, culture and nationality. The different ideologies, value system, beliefs and cultural paradigms have become important issues within the organization.
The cross cultural understanding helps promote mutual respect and builds relationship to resolve workplace conflicts and improve performance. Thus, managing diversity encourages joint goals and collective decision making for higher organizational outcome. (words: 124) Reference Nixon, Len. (August, 2003).
