Other, un-measurable variables included the main food supply and natural predators of the Gammarus plex. The Kick-Sampling method was used in this experiment and was found to be effective in accurately determining the number of shrimps at a specific site. Due to my findings, I have concluded the null hypothesis to be false. The number of shrimps per site is directly related to the dissolved oxygen content of said site.

The Aim:
The aim of this examination vesicates the number of freshwater heifers to ox about in the River, Ribera Brook.

Hypothesis:

There will be more Gammarus water shrimps) present within a fresh-water habitat according to the concentration of dissolved oxygen. If there is a greater amount of oxygen in the water, which may be affected by organic pollution, then there will be more oxygen available for the respiration of aquatic species living in the stream. As aerobic organisms, the freshwater shrimp recipe-push water for their survival. I believe that Fresh-water habitats with greater amounts of dissolved oxygen will attract more Gammarus plex.

Null Gammarus:

There will be no increase in the abundance of Gammarus plex in Gammarus ich water oxygen-riches used in this investigation:

1 × oxygen meter

1 × plastic tray

1 × thermometer

1 × pond net

1 × pH probe

1 × impellor/ flow meter

1 × palette

1 × plastic spoon
1 × tape measure

15 × water sample bottles

Sampling method:

Random sampling will not be used for this investigation as it would not give reliable results and could be biased. Using random sampling would allow the entire test to be collected from fast- or slow-moving water, and from water with high or low pH levels.

In this case, systematic sampling was more appropriate. This involved measuring the river every 15 meters and taking the samples at specific test sites. This allowed me to find a wider diversity of shrimps at each test site.

The type of sampling method used for this investigation was the kick sampling method. The kick sampling method involved kicking the surface of the riverbed three times. By stirring up the bottom of the riverbed, the sediments were broken, and the water was disturbed. This increased the chance of finding a higher species diversity.
