Unity – Unity as an attribute of God is to say that there is only one God, who is indivisible. Therefore, the three persons of the Trinity are not separate essence within the one essence which is God. God is one in number and thus in essence.

Righteousness – An attribute of God. God is righteousness, Holiness and God can never violate any code of justice. There are two types of righteousness – Absolute related to Himself and relative righteousness related to His Creation.

Omnipresence – means that God is present everywhere at all times in His whole being. Omnipresence does not mean as the deist taught “God is the mind or soul of the universe.” Omnipresence does mean God is present everywhere, but not diffused or penetrating the universe.

Mercy – This is the aspect of God’s goodness that shows pity or compassion for His people. An example from the Word of God, (Psalms 103:13) “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.”

Immutability – This is an attribute of God that means He is unchangeable and He is unchanging. God is never inconsistent, growing, or developing. Immutability assures us that God’s perfections will never change. Therefore, if God did change, then He would not be God.

Aseity - Self-existence, an existence originating from and having no source other than itself. God is endlessly self-existent and self-sustaining without beginning or end. In the book of Psalms, God’s existence is described as everlasting to everlasting.

Anthropomorphism – The interpretation of non-human things in terms of human characteristics. Examples are passages from the Bible that describe God with physical features, this is anthropomorphism. However, God is spirit and invisible not made of material substance.

John Walvoord – John Walvoord was a Christian theologian, pastor, and President of the Dallas Theological Seminary. He was appointed registrar of the seminary by his mentor Lewis S. Chafer. John Walvoord’s main focus was on eschatology which includes over 30 books, one of which was “The Rapture Question.” John Walvoord was one of the most influential dispensational theologians of the twentieth century.
