First, this scripture underscores the undeniable role the Holy Spirit plays in making us both to be willing and able to do the works of Jesus. It is important to note that just as Jesus went through the baptism and infilling of the holy ghost before his public ministry, the 12 disciples plus other companion had to wait for the infilling before they commenced their preaching of the gospel and thus should all those who claim to follow Him.

Following Jesus is also linked to ones willingness to continue preaching the gospel in the face of opposition and persecution. Similarly to Jesus ministry, believers just like the apostles will always face opposition and sometimes persecution which in essence prove their commitment to following Him. Lastly, following Jesus has much to do with doing the good works of Gods Kingdom that include preaching the Gospel of Christ, praying with one another, meeting the needs of the underprivileged, just to mention but a few. 2. What practices are becoming common?

A number of practices have been closely linked to following Christ. To begin with, people who follow Christ have surrendered their will to the leading of the Holy Spirit and would thus follow not their own intuitions and other people’s vague opinions while doing the work of Jesus. Secondly, followers of Jesus stay in fellowship with one another and readily preach the Gospel of Jesus while taking in new converts for discipleship in God’s word. Lastly, Followers of Jesus are willing to undergo the pain accompanying the preaching of the Gospel knowing well that it works better things for their faith life.
