This shows that God meant that man should not marry another man under all circumstances. Since the catholic teachings are based on the bible, agreeing to same sex marriage is going against the bible, which is a sin (New Jerusalem Bible, Gen. 1.27).
According to the Roman Catholic, same sex marriage is a sin that should not be allowed under any circumstances. Marriage and sex is solely for procreation but when two people of the same sex are married, procreation cannot be achieved. This means that, in addition to being against the teachings of the bible, it destroys the family unit. Marriage is the foundation of all family lives and it should be respected. Allowing same sex marriage will result in childless unions hence family tree will not continues (Smith).
The catholic argument is valid because the bible does not approve same sex marriage. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of the sexual sins that were committed in those towns, which included practicing homosexuality. God created man with the sole purpose of bearing children to fill the earth and worship Him. He never approved sexual unions that could not bear any children (New Jerusalem Bible, Gen. 19.1-34).
Gay people are discriminated in the US. However, the bible teaches us that we should treat all the people equally irrespective of their positions in the society. This is the main reason why catholic bishops in the US have been against the treatment that the gay community receives in the country. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) recognizes the rights of the gay community but it does not approve its activities (Martin). This amounts to contradiction because one should not be concerned about a person who she or he despises. It ought to be understood that by going against gay community activities, the Catholic is discriminating them. ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

Same sex marriage based on prejudice and, as time passes, the concept will become more and more accepted. It, like racial prejudice, will become socially abhorrent (Sullivan, 2000). In addition, the disallowing of gay marriage by legislation violates the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment.  According to the American Civil Liberties Union, “The law [against same-sex marriage] discriminates on the basis of sex because it makes one's ability to marry depend on one's gender.” The ACLU continues by saying, “Classifications which discriminate on the basis of gender must be substantially related to some important government purpose. Tradition by itself is not an...

Nevertheless, the engagement in same sex marriage does not utterly inconvenience the homosexual couples for not being able to produce children, because there are equally heterosexual couples who are in marriage but they do not want to have children, and thus they pose the same danger of non-procreation, like the homosexual couples (Carroll, 33). While pro-gay and lesbian groups would continue to advocate the right of same-sex couples to marry on the grounds that it is actually a stabilizing occurrence for the homosexual community and society in general with a lot of benefits to children involved, those opposing gay marriages have arguments of their own. In a society which has traditionally seen heterosexual marriages, it would be difficult to put aside religious moral and social...

...States. Nowadays it seems as though the administration is promoting Christianity by stating that the Bible declares that God says that marriage was intended for one man together with one woman. If the government would try to please everyone within this nation, it may be a total catastrophe. I suppose that there has been way over concentration on gay marriages, and too little on equal handling (Fisher, R. D., 1994). Gay marriages contradict the self-apparent truth of nature where male and female bodies are calculated for and match each other. Homosexual marriage may undervalue your marriage. An authorization to marry seems to be a lawful document, by...

Living in a democratic liberal society, we should develop moral principles that would also enable freedom for all individuals in different aspects of life. Therefore, if the moral norms of the dominant religions are not violated by a variety of ways of sexual expression – e.g. people do not engage in promiscuity, same-sex marriage might be ethically acceptable from Christian point of view. Furthermore, if a same-sex couple strives to be connected with marital ties based on love and the aforementioned...
