Religion and Theology Assignment a) Parables are the stories Jesus told to pass his religious message. It can be generally defined as a succinct story that illustrates some instructive lessons, principles or a normative principle (Poplawski, 2008).
b) The parable of the Good Samaritan
As per to the Gospel of Luke (10:29-37) a Jew traveller is robbed, beaten and left along the road, half dead. A priest followed by a Levite come by. They both avoid the man. Eventually, a Samaritan comes by and though Jews and Samaritans despised each other, he helps the injured man. Jesus tells this in response to a question about who a "neighbor" describing a Samaritan positively came as a shock to his audience since Jesus was a Jew (BibleGateway.com).

a) A fable is a story moral story which mostly has animal characters of supernatural occurrences.
b) The dog in a manger
A dog lied in a manger of hay. This manger was provided as food for the cattle. When the cattle approached, he angrily prevented them from even getting near. The cattle remarked, "He doesnt need it himself yet he wont let us have it, the selfish beast." (Poplawski, 2008).
c) Moral: if one does not need something, one should not keep it from those who do.

a) A myth is traditional story which people approve it as their history. It shows the perceptions of a world by people.
b) Pandoras Box
Pandora was the first woman made out from clay. She was sent down to earth to marry Epimetheus. She was given a box by Zeus and told never to open it. Its key was given to her husband. She got curious and stole the key, her father, from her husband as he slept. She opened it and bad things flew out into the world. She closed the lid and told Epimetheus. He opened the box and a small bug flew out. Its name was hope. Since then, the world now holds Envy, Hate, Crime, and Disease – and fortunately, Hope (Poplawski, 2008).

a) A metaphor is a figure of speech where an expression denotes something that it does not literally represent in order to indicate a similarity (Poplawski, 2008).

a) Hyperbole is a figure of speech. It uses exaggerations to form strong emotional responses (Poplawski, 2008).
