Three Religious Traditions - Essay Example

To point out an example of the differences in the fundamental beliefs of these religions, the Christian tradition insists that Jesus Christ is the son of God whereas the Jews believe that the son of God is still to arrive. However, there has been convincing evidence in the history of the three religious traditions as well as their beliefs and practices which suggest that the Jews, Muslims, and Christians all worship the same God. Thus, a clear understanding of the origin and history of the three religious traditions makes it obvious that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have a common God in the God of Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, and Jacob.

Although one may identify a fundamental difference in the understanding of the nature of God in these religious traditions, they all believe ultimately in the same God. The God of Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, and Jacob in Judaism, which is historically the first to commence, is the same God of the Muslims and Christians. The similarity in their faith in God becomes palpable when one recognizes conspicuous resemblance in the history of Abraham in the three religions. Thus, the Islamic tradition insists that it was Ishmael who was offered as a sacrifice to God whereas the traditions of Judaism as well as Christianity consider Isaac as the one who was offered to God as a sacrifice.

In an insightful analysis of the sacred books of these religions, one can find several pieces of evidence of the fact that they all worship the same god, and the Koran, Torah, and Old Testament have credible records of the similarity in their faith. In fact, all these three religious traditions have the same origin and they share the faith in the same God, although named and realized in a different way. Therefore, after considering all the reliable evidence and facts from the history of origin and faith of the Christian, the Jewish, and the Islam traditions, I've come to the conclusion that they all worship and belief in the same God.

The Christian, the Jewish, and the Islamic religious traditions are recognized as the most significant examples of the monotheistic characteristic of the religions. In fact, the monotheistic characteristic of these three religious traditions can best be realized as the result of their faith in the same God. There are, of course, various fundamental differences in the concepts and beliefs of these religious traditions and they hold opposing views on the nature of God. Significantly, the major difference in the faiths of these religious traditions is in their understanding of nature the God.

However, a historical perspective of the origin and development of the Christian, the Jewish, and the Islam traditions ultimately demonstrates that all of them believe in and worship the God of Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, and Jacob. It is not difficult to establish that the Jewish and the Christian traditions believe in the same God, albeit they have different interpretations of the nature and qualities of God. Although apparently the Islamic tradition concerning the question can be questionable, the Quran provides convincing evidence to prove that the Muslims, the Jews, and Christians worship the same God.

Therefore, in a reflective analysis of the convincing shreds of evidence and facts from the history of origin and faith of the Christian, the Jewish, and the Islam traditions, I strongly believe that they all worship and believe in the same God.
