The Christian Right and Hitler’s Nazis Religious fundamentalist usually advocate for precepts which secular humanist believe is a threat to societal harmony. Largely, religious interpretations may elicit violence or harsh criticism depending on the views that the observers of the religion would wish to express. Critics of religious movement often argue that all religious movement exhibit fundamental aspects1. Thus, it is arguable that there is no big difference between the religious movements. Fundamentalist tend to take a hard stand when it comes to interpreting and implementing religious believes. It is arguable that there are frightening similarities between the Christian right and Hitler's Nazis. Chris Hedges believe that the move by Christian fundamentalist to takeover the political system is comparable the Hitler’s Nazis2. He observed that when the Christian fundamentalist penetrate the political cycle, opponents of the Christian system would serve as Satan’s agent. Critically, under the Christian dominion, the Ten Commandments act at the values, which Christians should observe. In the same way, Hitler’s Nazis used their commandments to institute political administration. The precepts followed by the Christian fundamentalist will, in the same manner as Hitler’s Nazis abolish trade union, secular law, public schools among other institutions, which do not embrace the Christian virtues. The fear is the precepts the fundamentalists have stood for. The Christian fundamentalists have penetrated their ways into the House of Representatives. Further, these fundamentalists hold majority of the seats. Christian fundamentalist movements have demonstrated 80 percent approval to the activities or debates conducted by the House of Representatives3. The House of Representative is critical to social development of the nation because it influences the social order, which the society adapts. This means that when the majority of the house is Christian fundamentalist, then they would pass laws, which will institute the harsh fundamentalist interpretation of the religious movement. Consequently, Americans will be subject to Christian norms. Hedges posit that the foundation of totalitarian movements is economic and personal despair. It is observable that United States is in despair thereby giving chance for Christian fascists to penetrate the political system with the ideologies. These ideologies are similar to Hitler’s Nazis because they do not only purport to restore the society from its sinful nature but argues in favor of the strict Christian virtues. The trends observed in the American job market or the social life needs a solution. However, the argument made by the Christian fascists tends to present a notion that seeks to revamp the current system. Christian Right and neo- conservatives-pragmatic politicos have formed a formidable alliance, which supports the rise of New American World Order System. The fear about the alliance is that the liberals may have the space to or voice their opinions about the political system that the nation should take, but it shall not have powers to institute laws which can protect ordinary individual from the precepts of the Christian fundamentalists. Hedges argued that challenging New World Order System would be hollow because political representatives backing the Christian Right are the majority. This means that opponents of the Christian fascism will not have any opportunity to influence the political system. Some American political leaders have demonstrated that they support the Christian fundamentalists. Hitler’s Nazi used the political power to maim the society and execute its own precepts. While many might view the issue as a far fetched opinion that has no bearing, Hedges has pointed on the influence that the system would have to masses. Ideally, when majority has embraced the precepts of the system, the opponents of the system will be subject to dire criticism. Further, the situation might blow out of proportion because Christian Rights movement commands an alliance, which has large number of political representatives. American politics has been favoring secular systems; however, the penetration of alliances, which have religious inclination, is likely to influence the political choices that America will have to make. A common thing between Christian fundamentalist and Nazis is that they do not accept other forms of belief. For example, Christian fundamentalist are at war with moral standard in the society. On the contrary, America has laws that promote social relationship, which contravenes the Christian virtues. The Christian fundamentalist cannot compromise their virtues to accept the trends in the society take the wrong course. Hedges argue that the realignment in the political class and domination of the Christian fascist in military will enable the fundamentalist to achieve their goals4. The Nazis used their political and the military power to institute their policies to the German. Since the same powers are at the disposal of the American Hitler’s the same trend observed in the Hitler’s regime is likely to grip America. Proponent for Christian rights tends to believe that once their precepts take control, the world would look at America as a role model. Hitler’s Nazis harbored such notions making it difficult for the common German to promote any independent opinion. Largely, Hitler argued that the society need to seek alternative because it the Nazis ideals were the best. Fundamentalist accept fantasies about Rapture as version of human salvation from the disputed Capitalism. Critically, America’s ability to provide job opportunity or to support its population has declined. The federal government has abandoned many programs, which aimed at improving the status of life. Moreover, the congress has reversed laws, which protected common person from exploitation. At the same time the Christian fundamentalists capitalizes on the culture of despair as the source of the American problems. It is arguable, the transforming the America would require cultural transformation which the Christian fundamentalist advocate. While the Hitler’s Nazis instituted strict guidelines for the political trends in the then Germany, accepting the Christian fundamentalist to rule decisions in the House of Representatives exposes America to the frightening similarity to Hitler’s regime. These fundamentalist will generate laws that favor Christians at the expense of other ideals in the American society. Hitler’s Nazis employed oppressive tactics to people who rejected their virtues. In the same manner, Christian fundamentalist prescribe punishment using their interpretation. Historically, the interpretation given to religious articles usually define the social life that people would take5. In addition, religious fundamentalist do not only take the challenge of interpreting their religious doctrine, but also implement the doctrines as it appears. Hedges makes a critical point on the above, arguing that the trend is similar to Hitler’s Nazis that interpreted and implemented the doctrines of Nazism6. The course that the movement will take will pose great challenges to the society because of the anticipated resistance. In essence, the whole activity will result in two factions; first would be the proponent of the religious fundamentalism and the second would be the proponent liberalism. The liberal societies use the majority vote to implement policies in the society. While Hitler’s Nazi did not need to source opinion from liberal representatives, Christian fascist use similar trends once they have interpreted their religious doctrines. Religious fundamentalist direct the efforts in controlling nearly all institutions of the government. For instance, Christian Rights effort to influence the judicial system is likely to influence rule of law. Largely, the present laws would change to accommodate the Christian commandments. Critics believe that when the society acquires this status, legislative and administrative process will have to conform to the Christian precepts. For example, fundamentalists such as Rushdooney believe that the Christian state would not only stem from Rapture but also through creation of Christian nation8. Most leaders of the Christian Rights argue that secular humanism does not represent any interest that pleases God. The fear of such perspective is that it eliminates the society that does not embrace the Christian doctrines. The battle against the evil will as projected by the Christian fundamentalist tend to settle on a fully Christian system. Notably, Christian fascist will not negotiate the precepts of Christian in relation to the social liberal demands. In essence, it is either one becomes a Christian or the person perishes. Such strong beliefs have similar roots to the Hitler’s Nazi, which did not give an opportunity to the society to contribute to the rule, but were subject to the rule. It will be shocking to replace secular humanism which fundamental precepts. Christian fundamentalist believe secular humanist is the greatest threat that Christianity has ever faced9. Such remarks are critical especially when referring to realigning the societal precepts with the Christian virtues. The enemy, in this case would be the proponent of the secular humanism whom the fundamentalist believe have contributed to the rotting of the societal moral. However, critics believe that fundamentalist perspectives usually leads to war because they are not ready to settle on anything less. On the other side, liberals and other groups may fail to accept the demand that the changes will bring. In conclusion, Christian fundamentalist argue in favor of Christian doctrines. These doctrines settle on nothing less than realigning the social precepts. This trend is similar to Hitler’s Nazi because the society had no choice other than embracing those precepts. The fear is that secular humanism would have no opportunity to argue or present their interpretation in any institution. The American society seems be creating room for Christian fundamentalism because Christian rights representatives have made formidable alliance with the politicians in the House of Representative. This alliance is critical to the future of United States because they influence the laws that the country would enact. The fear is that implementation of the Christian fascist view would culminate into war.
