Final ExamQuestion 1 I believe the sentiment that women are a “necessary evil” still exists today. Not all countries are comfortable with gender laws that encourage inequality. Many gender-based acts in the United States aim to assure equal opportunities for both genders. However, they tolerate positive discrimination because of the conventional and cultural backdrop of its many varied communities (Brammer 297).Question 2 I think Hare-Mustin’s opinion about the origin of women’s exploitation is accurate but not to a significant degree.

Many communities divide human abilities on gender bases and refer to these divisions as if they are natural and just (Brammer 327). Hare-Mustin’s opinion proves that human abilities are not natural and unintended. Instead, families form the main ground for shaping gender values and roles.Question 3 Before reaching 18 years, an average of one in seven girls is abused sexually. One probable consequence of experiencing sexual abuse is teenage pregnancy. Sexually abused girls are more than twice as likely to become adolescent mothers as non-abused girls are.

Other probable consequences include drug abuse, criminal behavior, and deterioration in academic interests (Brammer 297).Question 4 I would advise a man struggling with “feminine” psychopathology to substitute his behavioral patterns with healthier ones. Healthier behavioral patterns for an anorexic man can include changes in diet. A nutritionist can help the man determine suitable diets and identify nutritional needs that can assist in adjusting eating behaviors (Brammer 218). I would also counsel the man seek therapy and support from relatives because of their tendencies to understand the psychopathology.

Question 5 I would use shame in my therapeutic interventions to refer clients to mutual-support groups and contemporary treatment procedures. These groups and procedures would have to open with a primary anti-shame message. Shame is also good for developing a durable therapeutic bond and forming an atmosphere of trust (Brammer 161). Trust would allow the man to feel comfortable and open up to explore why he is truly ashamed.Question 6 One factor encountered during the course of this semester that has changed my worldview is counseling clients of a different sex.

Discussions about mutability revolve around whether life-changing events that impose a great effect on a person can alter his or her perception of the world (Brammer 70). I found it comforting discussing ways to offer advice to a client of the same sex because my ability to relate to his problems to some degree. I found that I began my modern counselling hypotheses and abilities by considering my personal problems and their similarity to my client’s own problems. The course taught me to reassess the ways that I can use to develop myself as a student and potential counselor.

While counselling a client of a different sex, it became difficult for me to reflect on my own issues, inspirations, and character traits. As a result, it was easy for me to treat this client’s needs as types of disruptions. In the process, treating a client of a different sex becomes hard. Nonetheless, this course also taught me of the concept of transparency during personal reassessment. I learned I can only be open to myself during reassessment in an effort to grow my awareness and develop my groundwork for being a professional counselor.

Clearly, not just superficial factors of the world can adjust while the central values and beliefs stay unchanged.Works CitedBrammer, Robert. Diversity in Counseling, 2nd edition. New York: Thomson/Brooks/Cole, 2012.
