Issues Related to Adolescence Introduction Adolescence is a stage that occurs as a transition period from childhood to adulthood. During the period, teenagers from the male and female sexes often develop physical, psychological, and behavioral changes. This stage prevails between puberty and adulthood stages. Researches indicate that there have are tremendous changes to the occurrence of adolescence with the female gender being the most affected by the early changes (Bastable, 2011). Mainly, adolescence prevails amidst cognitive, psychosocial, and other development changes which also include individual physical growth (Burton & Ludwig, 2010). The following discussion is essential to acquainting scholars and other interested parties with knowledge on the issues that are common during the adolescence stage. Issues associated with the adolescence period The concept of adolescence stage and the phases of development witnessed during the period is crucial in judging the behavioral activities witnessed upon the age groups. After observing that scholars accord minimal attention to this social group, the information amassed is certainly overwhelming since it denotes the importance of all issues in occurrence. For instance, adolescence engages the female gender into a process of changes. According to the long-serving researchers, adolescence has been associated with emptiness to the extent that the affected groups of male and female genders often lack self esteem whenever the changes occur without their knowledge. Viewing childhood as empty was a grave mistake in his opinion because it was an opinion informed by multiple assumptions (Treas & Wilkinson, 2013). Many people assume that adolescence issues are only witnessed in the learning environment, but the ideology is ill since the behavioral changes articulated to the issue of puberty often force the affected groups to engage in activities which may contradict with ethical and moral standards. Attending school is a critical part of the work done by adolescents thus the issue of puberty may deter their proficiency in academics. Arguably, the issue restrains the groups’ determination and they may often lose their self-control hence ending up being involved in unethical and immoral affairs. At this point, it is knowledgeable that the issue of puberty during adolescence may lead life changing patterns that may affect negatively or positively on the victims’ lives. Therefore, the issue may be a setback to those affected negatively and an advantage to realizing ones capabilities to those affected positively (Bastable, 2011). Scholars indicate that puberty is the sufficient issue that determines the education and academic levels of success levels of any society. This affects the social welfare because of the existing correlation between education and adolescence changes. Research indicates that adolescents often are advantaged to reduced health risks. The period leads to a prolonged occurrence of hormonal and bodily changes. Therefore, this group is immune to diseases compared to those people in adulthood. Further, adolescence seems to be advantaged compared to adolescents in the minor ages that are vulnerable to many types of ailments. The society excludes the issues of studies that sought to establish how factors such as gender, race, and class affect adolescents (Burton & Ludwig, 2010). This exclusion serves to render adolescents incapable of competing with the entire society thus they fall short of achieving the desired ends at the long run. Presumably, adolescents are vulnerable psychosocial challenges as they engage their daily activities and thinking capabilities with a future perspective (DeWit & ONeill, 2014). One of these perspectives highlighted in the context of psychosocial behavior was that adolescence was a permanent structure that defined the adulthood. Each society has a stage of adolescence and the prevalence of psychosocial problems is repetitive. The occurrence of procreation is an incremental factor to the continued changes in the society where adolescents are born and through transition, they enter into the phase of adulthood. In some cases, the society views psychosocial development as the best alternative to define adolescent changes since it denotes all the individuals who are yet to attain the age of eighteen years. This serves to the inclusion of both adolescents and youths (Bastable, 2011). The realization is that adolescent stage and the transformation into maturity in the adulthood stage is a permanent phase and a critical in any society. This places emphasis on the need for different disciplines to indulge in research on adolescents. The second perspective of development is that adolescence enforces the realization of constancy that the stage enforces upon the affected group in the society. It is highlighted that schooling activity of adolescents needs more attention. In Emphasis, other activities that adolescents engage in also require some attention. Therefore, adolescents engage in a diverse range of activities, which determine the kinds of careers they will adopt in their future. This highlights that is of critical importance for the society to define the behavioral changes portrayed by each individual as such a resolution shall serve positively towards intellectual. In regard to studying the prescribed values of development in adolescence stage, this is the only activity to ensure that the group develops towards the endeared state of the society. Education is of critical importance, the other activities serve to shape the attitude adopted by adolescents towards education. Understanding the view of adolescents towards such activities can serve to explain the value of psychosocial and behavioral developments. Such activities match the issues of adolescence and are vital in shaping the future of adolescents. Essentially, it is crucial to consider the activities that adolescents engage in because it is explanatory to the emotional, psychological, hormonal and physical changes of the stage. Recent research on adolescence views the stage as composite of independent social agencies. This focuses are helpful to many sociologists in describing the effect of class, and gender. Further, it enables for the definition of other economic factors that affect this social structure. This is an opening to many new opportunities for the society to discuss childhood from different perspectives. This has made it possible for multiple approaches of studies in addressing the issue of development from a definite perspective and analyzing the factors that determine the manner in which adolescents interpret social issues (Bastable, 2011). Researchers indicate this discipline as one focusing on knowledgeable surveys to ensure that the society confident with the outcome activities in each stage life. Socially, researchers are accorded attention to the effect of the growing population of adolescents and the challenges of development. Through physical development, the issue of adolescence seems as an important aspect in promoting the different social systems that include gender system (DeWit & ONeill, 2014). Adolescents across the globe have access to the social media, this serves to the importance of shaping their perceptions on different issues. Gender system and its defining patriarchal attitudes have become evident to many adolescents after the consideration of their depiction in the media (Mandleco, 2004). Therefore, the issue of social interactions in adolescents is definitive of the development of profound physical and psychosocial issues and trends. Conclusion Other issues such as ill social behaviors are also promoted through the media, and have the potential altering the behavioral experiences of adolescents. For example, adverts on different media forms affect both adolescents’ teenagers. Advertising to adolescents and teenagers pose health and social dangers this extremely vulnerable group of individuals. Research indicates that one third of teenagers result to smoking due to the influence. This is an indication that adolescents face the issue of peer pressure and their behaviors may match those of their friends. Hence, if one is associated with unethical groupings, it is probable that they will exhibit similar characteristics.
