My Personality School Even though it is quite difficult to estimate your own personality and describe it objectively, as obviously it is impossible, I believe that I’ve developed a lot through my life as a personality. Since I am an international student from China, living in the U.S. for two years has changed a lot in my attitude towards different things, as I’ve experienced some cultural-shocking insights and learned a lot in this new environment.
First of all, it is important to mention that living in a society with a totally different culture made me change some of my behavioural patterns. For instance, I’ve become more emotional and learned how to express my emotions in different ways. I’ve learned that people in the U.S. are more emotional and their facial expressions are strongly marked than those of Chinese people. Moreover, such change in my emotional patterns led me to the change of the ways I motivate myself for actions. I would say that I used to be motivated by some extrinsic things like my duties to study or learn new things for my future career, but now I get motivated by more intrinsic factors (Grison et al. 2015). Furthermore, I’ve learned how to like studying and simultaneously do it for my future’s sake. Also, now I set long-term goals, as I’ve developed my self-motivation and I am pretty sure that I will achieve those goals, because I have assurance in my future success.
The most memorable experience that I’m gaining in the United States on a daily basis is constant interactions with people who have different cultural backgrounds than mine. I’ve met people from various parts of the world; they had different skin colors and were raised according to their native traditions, as well as I am. This experience made me more tolerant and improved my ability not to judge people for who they are or where they are from. Hence, I’ve reduced my level of criticism towards others and I think this made my personality a little better.
Also, I’ve started taking care of my health, because seeing a lot of obese people made me think of my own body and its well-being. Ever since I realized that my body is very important and it is my treasure, I’ve decided to take care of it, because spoiling health is much easier than healing the body afterwards for a long period of time. Thus I had to change my eating habits and food preferences and I started with creating a regime of eating for myself and doing some exercises in the morning, which helps me stay fit and keep the sense of well-being in my body. Also, I’m trying to avoid stress and my Chinese cultural background is helping me with it, as I’ve been taught not to worry for nothing. If a problem can be solved, then no reasons for worries; although if it can’t, then there is no point to destroy my health by the worries.
I believe I’ve grown a lot since I moved to the U.S. and I learned some crucial things that improved my personality and encouraged me to motivate myself and develop.

Analyzing my personality

... Prof’s Personality Tests This report will discuss two personality tests, the Rotter locus of control test and the Myers-Briggs personality type test, as well as analyzing my personal results. Locus of Control: The Insturment The Locus of Control test was developed by Julian B. Rotter in 1966. It consists of a twenty-eight question questionnaire, with twenty three actual questions and several dummy questions (Garden 2004). It is a forced choice questionnaire (no question has a “none of the above” option). The questions analyze whether the person tends to see an individual in control of their fate, or at the mercy of others. Each time a person chooses an answer that assumes external locus, they gain a point, so high equals external locus...

The Interaction between My Birth Order and My Personality

... Has My Birth Order and Relationships With My Family Affected My Personality? Introduction FrankSulloway, ‘‘a freelance intellectual sleuth,’’ carried out a research to investigate the similarities in all the great leaders and also identify what revolutionaries have in common (Boynton 72). The research was motivated by an observation that Charles Darwin, who he considered not to be a genius had come up with a theory which others philosophers had sought after for so long. After researching for a long period, Sulloway believed that he had been able to unravel the puzzle why some individuals are able to ‘‘reject the conventional wisdom of their times’’. According to Sulloway, the birth order of an individual ‘‘is a good predictor about one’s...

My Personality Traits

...still acknowledge that working cohesively with others is beneficial in different scenarios and settings. On the other hand, despite the acknowledgement of these strengths in my personality, I still admit that there are weaknesses which need to be addressed. As emphasized by Roberts & Mroczek (2008), “personality traits continue to change, even in old age” (p. 32). Thus, one could still work on changing those traits that need to be tranformed for the better. For one, I believe that there is still room for improving ability to discern priorities in life. Since I am a people’s person, there are some instances when I am in the company of colleagues and friends and I just...

My personality traits

... the direction and decisions that I have taken in life. In this paper, I will discuss my personality traits, the way in which they came about and why I consider them important in my life. One of my main personality traits is honesty. I greatly regard this trait and I consider it very important in my life, particularly in shaping the decisions that I make and the way in which I relate with others. John, Robins and Pervin (2008) refer to honesty as a trait that connotes virtuous and positive attributes such as straightforwardness and truthfulness. It goes along with the ability to desist from lying, theft, or cheating. To me, honesty is not only the best policy but also the only policy. This trait developed in my life because of our family...

My Favorite Personality Theory

...? Evolutionary Psychology Theory A person who does not understand the uniqueness of individuals is unable to understand the working of natural selection; therefore, it seems logical to state that one’s personality is created and it keeps changing along life’s path. PERSONALITY TRAIT THAT BEST FITS MY LIFE

..., and this leads to me being agreeable. Being agreeable is being compassionate. This trait reflects an individual’s desire to have a social environment where people can live harmoniously. Agreeable people are optimistic and are generally friendly, helpful and considerate. They also get along well with others. My being agreeable, I think, is a direct effect of me being an extrovert since being an extrovert also means being interested with people. Being agreeable is somewhat similar because one can never be friendly and agreeable if one does not actively seek the company of others, as in being an extrovert. Thus, being an extrovert can actually be a springboard of other traits in a person, such as the ones being mentioned: openness...
