I’ve learned that people in the U.S. are more emotional and their facial expressions are more strongly marked than those of Chinese people. Moreover, such a change in my emotional patterns led me to change the ways I motivate myself to actions. I would say that I used to be motivated by some extrinsic things like my duties to study or learn new things for my future career, but now I get motivated by more intrinsic factors (Grison et al. 2015). Furthermore, I’ve learned how to like studying and simultaneously do it for my future’s sake. Also, now I set long-term goals, as I’ve developed my self-motivation and I am pretty sure that I will achieve those goals because I have assurance in my future success.

The most memorable experience that I’m gaining in the United States on a daily basis is constant interactions with people who have different cultural backgrounds than mine. I’ve met people from various parts of the world; they had different skin colors and were raised according to their native traditions, as well as I am. This experience made me more tolerant and improved my ability not to judge people for who they are or where they are from. Hence, I’ve reduced my level of criticism towards others and I think this made my personality a little better.

Also, I’ve started taking care of my health, because seeing a lot of obese people made me think of my own body and its well-being. Ever since I realized that my body is very important and it is my treasure, I’ve decided to take care of it, because spoiling health is much easier than healing the body afterward for a long period of time. Thus I had to change my eating habits and food preferences and I started by creating a regime of eating for myself and doing some exercises in the morning, which helps me stay fit and keep a sense of well-being in my body. Also, I’m trying to avoid stress and my Chinese cultural background is helping me with it, as I’ve been taught not to worry about anything. If a problem can be solved, then no reason for worry; although if it can’t, then there is no point to destroy my health with worries.

I believe I’ve grown a lot since I moved to the U.S. and I learned some crucial things that improved my personality and encouraged me to motivate myself and develop
