Suicide in relation to human needs Suicide can be defined as one’s deliberate act of ending his or her life. It is becoming a more common in the 21st century as more people are becoming involved in such an act, which some specialists refer to as a “natural response” to certain circumstances that affect people. Some major factors that have been identified as the major causes of suicide are like failure to find love and affection, which are important aspects of life (Lam 22). Denial can lead to depression. Loss of love is also another major factor, together with lack of achievement and success in one’s life in general or area of specialization (Jamison 99).
Specialists have the view that most suicide cases can be prevented by what Murray called “an anodyne”-one who can understand the patient’s distresses and provide ways out of them (Dublin 60). A patient’s reasons for suicide have to be understood and therapy that corresponds to their problems administered. In short, a therapist has to know where the patient hurts and find out how they can help. This means a wholesome understanding of the patient’s problems and the possible solutions the patient had considered but did not help.
From this point the therapist can provide other solutions that the patient had not considered (Jamison 87). When all these, and other possible avenues considered, this increasing problem can be contained to the minimum, as those who contemplate the act are accorded due help so that they find joy in a life so full of problems, rather than focusing on the negative aspects that can be the driving force to suicide (Lam 54).

...When On Different Continents, Organism Features Same Mutations” The protozoa that causes malaria – Plasmodium vivax – has undergone the same genetic variations regardless where it is found and despite the distance among continents. This so-called “microbial globe trotter” protozoa which is harbored by mosquitoes is believed to have spread worldwide because of the tendency of people to travel despite the dormant protozoa in their liver (“Genome of Malaria-Causing”). This is then believed to reemerge into the blood when the person is in another place. This problem is compounded by the fact that there is only one drug that could kill the parasite in the liver and that as Plasmodium vivax continues to mutate, it becomes...

...Dilemma of Choosing Between Happiness and Truth There is always a philosophical dilemma in choosing between truthand happiness. If I were given the option to swallow a pill that will always make me happy, even when I am dying, I would choose to swallow it even if it will make me believe all sorts of falsehoods. I believe and prefer the pursuit of happiness rather than the pursuit of truth in order to live well. This proposition is drawn from the differences between stoic logos and the Epicurus right pleasures. Epicureanism suggests that pleasure is the end of life, and allows people to live free of any sort of pain (Mac, 2009). The primary idea in support of Epicureanism is that a wise person will always remain happy even if he... of...
