Emile Sinclair meets with Kromer, who is an older boy in their school.   The lies Sinclair tells land him in trouble with Kromer to the extent that their relationship becomes a burdensome affair (Hesse, 2014). The introduction of Demian to Sinclair's life assists Sinclair to reinvent his life through, the new friend's insights (Hesse, 2014). Demian helps Sinclair in dealing with Kromer effectively ending the slave affair. On the other hand, Demian begins to indoctrinate Sinclair with new ideas that change his perspectives about certain issues (Hesse, 2014). Sinclair's life has twists and turns that are characterized by positive and negative tendencies.

The teachings encouraged me to follow because they provided great moral lessons in determining how to relate with others in society. The Demian story intimates that individuals have to define their own values and consider them against their implications.  I have become a different individual from a few years ago in the sense that the values and norms obtained from the family continue to be the guiding principles.
