Peaceful warrior is a powerful movie that can be recommended to all those who haven’t watched it yet. From the movie, a list of lessons can be put together, as a supplementary piece, and would like to share (Millman 66).

First, to be a powerful warrior, one should have the knowledge that fear contributes to violence and lack of peace and creates relentlessness within your reality. This makes a great deal of sense if thought about it. No matter its trigger, fear takes you off the moment by focusing your thoughts towards your emotional and physical reaction to it (Millman 86). We cannot expect to get back to peace with this moment unless we truly look at it. Otherwise, we will be run by the fear it has created. This is proven by the quote from the movie, “Understand this above all, he interrupted. You can do nothing to change the past, and the future will never come exactly as you expect or hope for. Your sorrow, your fear and anger, regret and guilt, your envy and plans and cravings live only in the past, or in the future.” (Millman 106)

Also, we can learn that past experiences and old mentalities define the limitations we have. Too often, we allow our past to dictate whatsoever our bodies can, or cannot do. Instead, we should take each attempt we face as a different and separate experience completely (Millman 106). Since we all kind of lead busy lives- multitasking, we should be able to remind ourselves to fully experience each thing at a particular time. Socrates proves this by stating the fact that we should take everything as a lesson and a purposeful lesson (Millman 108).

Thoughts cannot reveal anything related to you. From the movie, we learn that thoughts are just thoughts, as shown by Danny, and many of them are automatically-arisen. Thoughts can be falsely used to satisfy you and at the same time beating yourself up. As stated by Socrates, the brain is real, but the mind is not (Millman 126). Instead of allowing your thoughts to run and ruin you as a warrior, just observe them simply for what they are. We can be surprised by what we think of being regular turning out to be kind of unfounded and useless (Millman 143).

There are no ordinary moments. There is always something going on. Even in boredom, there is plenty of much going on around (Millman 145).

As a warrior, all we can impact and all we can get is the moment. We should not allow future moment thoughts to hold us back from getting something that at this moment, we can be able to achieve (Millman 156). Getting caught up in needs will just lead to suffering, as per Socrates. Think about it. If we are unable to get whatever we want, we term it as a suffering version. When we get whatever we want, we are unable to hold on to it hence more suffering (Millman 156).

All of these lessons, as shared through the film, stood out for me. As a peaceful warrior, much can be gained from the teachings we acquire within and in our daily lives all in one.
